Well what do you mainly do with this computer? Game, watch movies what? Why do you want to upgrade?

Well, this is just my main computer. I do everything on it from games to movies to office (word documents, powerpoints, etc.).

I want to upgrade because I'm sick of my current extremely outdated video card.. Plus, I want to play World of Warcraft at something more than 20 FPS....

NVIDIA has always been my first choice...but what do I know

Here's a side by side comparison.

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=566&card2=559

(http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=566&card2=571)The GeForce is 10.3 x 4.37 x 1.5.
The Radeon is 9.2 x 3.9 x 0.6

I've also read that the Geforce is faster and runs cooler.

Id say go nvidia as well but Im sure others will argue.

Why not go with EVGA (lifetime guarentee :) )and cheaper

I thought XFX had a lifetime guarantee? and the XFX is 9800 GTX+
Is there a big difference between GT and GTX+?

Maybe they do too, I didn't know that

GPU GeForce 9800 GT Core clock 600MHz Stream Processors 112 Memory Clock 1800MHz

GPU GeForce 9800 GTX+ Core clock 738MHz Stream Processors 128 Memory Clock 2200MHz

So yes there is a difference but not a huge one. You could easily OC the GT to the GTX specs but if they have a guarentee also go with the GTX, why not?

Yea, I went on the XFX website and found out they have a Lifetime Warranty.

Gonna wait till the price on the GTX+ drops a little, too steep for me atm.

Also, how do I OC things? Always wanted to know.... Something in BIOS or an actual program?

I'm pretty sure your processor will be bottlenecking your video card so you might want to take a look at other cards.

New thing I found out. My PSU might not be able to handle the 9800 GTX+

It's 350W... Do I buy a new one?

Detale

Oh yeah you do. Bottle necking= The older CPU will actually slow down the vid card so you will not have a noticeable difference in performance man.

Save up get a new rig. CPU, Mobo, Vid card and PSU Around $400 reasonably I would think. Maybe less.

You forgot RAM.

And $400, really?
Maybe if you're buying off the back of Guido's truck...

LOL yeah about $400 if the budget is real tight he could get a BB kit from tiger ( I know you dislike them but in a pinch they're cheap. Now these arent really good parts at all but it'll get the job done for now and upgrade as the money becomes available

GeForce XFX MG-63MI-7109 Socket 775 Barebones Kit - Intel Pentium Dual E2200 2.20GHz OEM, OCZ Platinum 2048MB PC6400 DDR2, 160GB HD, XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX, ATX Mid Tower Case (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4016612&CatId=333) $299.99

Intel DG31PR Socket 775 Barebone Kit - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz OEM, 2GB DDR2 PC6400, ATX Mid-Tower Case, 800 Watt Power Supply (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3901231&CatId=333) $399 granted this doesn't have the vid card he wanted so this one is a little more but it's a quad core system.

Need I comment on the quality of PSUs bundled with cheap cases?

No, I think not.

False- and potentially lethal- economy.
Besides, he already has a PC and presumably, it's parts work so he can still get his daily LOLcats fix as he saves a few more bucks and buys something worth having.

Haha, LOLcats... they disgust me =/

So.. I'm gonna get:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150314
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703016 (Made especially for Dell PC's)

And the vid card has a bundle special that comes with one of 2 motherboards:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141010
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141011

I don't want to buy a new system either though. I have enough RAM on this one for pretty much any game.. All I need is a new video card and the necessary upgrades for it to run smoothly...
