They're both legendary corpses now.

So, who was the best?

I'm going with Paul Newman.

That's an interesting question.
If you look at the cold hard facts Newman no contest.Better actor longer and more distinguished career.
Of course if you throw all that out the window and look at sheer charisma and iconic status McQueen wins hands down.

Of Hollywood stars McQueen's on a very short with James Dean,Bogart,Brando maybe a couple others.
Very few people out cooled Steve McQueen.

The only reason I posed the question is cos, as a youngster, I used to confuse the two all over the place.

Don't know why. They look fuck all like each other.

However, there's no denying that there was a firm rivalry. The credits on The Towering Inferno lie testament to that.

Apparently, one is slightly above the other (McQueen, I think. Could be wrong though), stipulated by the managers.

The question is ridiculous and does you no credit.

Alright then.

Which is best, pork or beef?

My reasoning was posted above. I associate the two for no good reason.

However, Undead Paul Newman would kick the fuck right out of Undead Steve McQueen. True story.

Just as undead Winston Churchill would still kick the fuck out of undead Hitler.

Or something else.

I find it odd that you chose this topic for that remark considering it whomps the fuck out of drivel like "shaved or unshaved? " or "what did you have for Sunday dinner?'

I could be wrong, but I don't think chalice created any of those other threads, so it would have been wrong to bring up his credit rating in them.

If there's a credit rating in the lounge, then I'm pretty much fucked.

And that's got fuck all to do with this thread.

No, you're missing the point.

Definitely beef.

But if we're talking sausages here, I'll have to plump for pork.

Both have their merits.

I was wrong (as usual). Newman's name was slightly above McQueen's on the credits for Towering Inferno.

I still reckon it was a fair comparison considering the debacle over who was given top billing in the film, like. And other things I can't remember. Watched a documentary about it once.
