Hi im thinking about buying a hdtv. Although i was just curious can i double it as a monitor and will it be jsut as effective as other monitors around. Right now a lcd tv to me just looks like a monitor with a tv input but i dont know for sure. So im calling on your guys great wisdom.

I can tell you that a 1080i lcd tv is not good as a monitor.
It's great for video but as soon as you start trying to read text on it from the pc you can see how blurry it is.
It's much better than it used to be with non-hd tvs but still not even close to as clear as an lcd monitor...

Not sure about 1080p though, I hear that's better for suing as a monitor but still I doubt it's as good as an actual monitor. :/

i use my Toshiba 42" as a monitor through HDMI and I never had a problem. When Im not watching movies I just set the resolution lower like 800X600 or something and it's fine. When i watch movies I set it back to 1080p and all is well.
