What's the best registry cleaner around? I've heard that RegCleaner 4.3 (http://www.winguides.com/software/display.php/25/) is quite good.

Ad-aware scans the registry but I don't think it deletes any obsolete keys.

I use Ad-aware but heard it's not that good. Most people recommend Spybot to me, but I find it not very user friendly.

Wrong thread!! This was a question about "reg cleaners". Not spyware removers.

@ Amarjit- jv16 power tools is very good. It will search the registry using the common program name or the .dll names or whatever you like.

Regcleaner is good enough. If you prefer more features go for JVPowerTools although today it is shareware. Used to be Freeware.

I used a program called Registry Mechanic and it works like a charm, it's shareware, but I'd be happy to give anyone the serial.

You have got to go with Tuneup Utilities, lovely little program.

The one built in with tweak xp pro is pretty good,if u want one that auto scans, its also pretty safe u can choose the level oF keys to scan..it always finds some shit from files and progs i deleted qutie a while ago...the prog isnt as bad as ppl think.I originally only used it for a few extensions i like on the mouse right clk menu now use the reg cleaner and the unnessesary files util quite regular before a defrag.
If i've just uninstalled something i normally check with jv6 tools..before thou i always used reg cleaner then read a post of zapjb's commenting about jv6 and thought i'd have a look..its near identical to reg cleaner imo.

Ashampoo Winoptimizer is the best. It's a great tool that finds and deletes shit from your computer and which can also tune up your internet connection.

WinOptimizer Suite is divided into 7 modules:

Drive Cleaner
DLL Cleaner
Registry Cleaner
Internet Cleaner
Internet Tuner
StartUp Tuner
File Wiper

More info HERE (http://www.ashampoo.com/)

Great tool. :)

A while ago i tested tons of RegCleaners to see the differences.
I Tested:
Ashampoo
RegCleaner
Norton Utilities
Registry Healer
UltraWindowsCleaner
and a few others with obsolete names.

Registry Healer is for me the most reliable - more options and catches most of the errors.
