Well it's been ages since I've used Limewire, and I can't believe that every time you turn around to download an mp3 it's corrupted with a virus.

P2P apps are really starting to suck big time.

I'm back with SoulSeek, glad you don't seem to run into issues on this application, thank goodness.

I wanted to know, any other clients like SoulSeek that are more community based with better quality downloads, because many times older tunes I'm looking for aren't easy to get on SoulSeek...

THANKS

P.S. Forget Private Torrernt Trackers and DC++ been there done that...

As a mainstream network, there's still AresGalaxy which you could try.

Gnutella really seems to be polluted, if I'm online then about 97 % of the search requests I get are for financial / confidential information.

Soulseek is really the best p2p app that I've came across so far(I'm just about to try the Linux version Nicotine). But I've been using newsgroups lately for all my music. I download mainly FLAC. And I've been able to find just about everything I was looking for in FLAC format.

So if you have access to Usenet then it's something to definitely try. It's really nice having to upload back using this method.

Check http://www.gotnap.com

network list http://www.gotnap.com/index.php/list ( mine is Mensae or http://mensap2p.com and http://DutchLeechNet.nl )

here you will find a number of private file-sharing networks, including my own network, http:///www.mensap2pcom , FileSharingTalk members receive privileges once they log on and pm me with their nick.

If you download and use the lopster client, you will find a guide to using it here :- How to Get Started (http://z15.invisionfree.com/Imagine_If/index.php?showtopic=21)

Lopster a multi-sourcing file-sharing client, giving high download speeds, you can download for free here http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=8472

and regarding SoulSeek..the old network is still by far the best for download;s the new network is crap...!

Maybe he's using the free version. I've been using pro for years and it works alright. There's alot of corrypted songs out there but it usually catches them.

I've not gotten viruses from Limewire in the couple years that I used it either. So I really don't know what all that talk is about. But there's absolutely no reason to use Limewire when there's Soulseek. It's just all around the better way to download music.

I have found that the majority of users who report viruses from limewire are the ones who are downloading app's. Why would anyone be downloading app's from limewire anyway, thats like playing russian roulette with a fully loaded gun.

I just started playing around with slsk and it seems great. Only trouble is finding users with similar interests (proper flac).

I don't use it publicly though. It is set to only allow uploads to people I specifically allow.

Yeah, Soulseek is hit or miss with proper FLAC's. But they are a lot shard on that program. But for mp3's, I think it's just as good as any private bittorrent site.

yeah ... soulseek pretty much is THE sharing program for "underground" music , with the exception of private sites of course.

I pray they survive ...
