what.cd/waffles. i prefer what. and in terms of lossless, yeah those 2 torrents sites i mentioned will definitely be better than the unpoliced, unregulated bitrate of lossy content that you'll find on emule.

waffles.fm for lossless the have 'Waffle Iron' which lets you know that the rip is 100% exact audio copy.

Unfortunately, bittorrent is by far the best method for lossless music. If you get into a site like Pedro's, you wont have to worry if what you're downloading has been properly ripped. The site has crazy quality standards.

If you're not picky enough, and don't need a log and all that, then newsgroups does have a lot of lossless. I usually look there if Pedro's doesn't have the album I'm looking for. Then if newsgroups doesn't have the album in FLAC, then I resort to What or Waffles.

If all you're wanting is mp3's, then Soulseek will suffice if you're not intersted in bittorrent. You can find pretty much all that you want on soulseek, in various bitrates.

Well hopefully I'll eventually come across a dedicated lossless RS/MU site, as I haven't yet. But even if I did, that forum would have to be heavily moderated so improper rips or rips without logs wouldn't get in, for me to totally stop using a site like Pedro's.

torrents, unless you have scene axx to music files. my advise is to stay away from kazza/limewire/related programs. for really really obscure content try forums or requesting it on trackers.

Torrent is by far best.

I beg to differ, I have never found one torrent site, private or public that had what I was looking for, and I've used What.cd and Waffles, and they both sucked...

So far SoulSeek has been the best app I've used for finding tunes, and also no need to sit around running my box 24/7 to seed, wasting my time and electricity.

Yep use what works, there is no BEST way, many ways are good.

But I will say for me, torrents have never been good for any of the music I wanted...

Hey DasFox and ostracizado, do you guys use the FileSharingTalk.com chatroom in Soulseek because I haven't been able to locate it. When I do create it, I always seem to be the only person there. Is this how it usually is?

Then that sounds really nice. This is what I've been looking for. Kind of like an RS forum equivalent of Pedro's. I'll have to keep my eyes open for them.

I just go the 'flac' or 'lossless' rooms and browse the files of the members in there. I have found some great lossless albums by doing that.

Also there are a ton of blogs that offer nothing but lossless, and RS forums has a lot of lossless uploads to.

If the album I'm looking for is not at the two well known lossless trackers, then the places I mentioned are the next places I look. Then newsgroups. Then Waffles is my very last spot to check.

Maybe I'll check out soulseek again. I tried it a while back, but it never worked out that well for me. I mostly use torrents and forums/livejournal communities for music, I've been looking for new sources lately.
