My computer really needs one badly, but perfect disk cant do it.
Any other program that will?

I also ran Checkdisk during Windows startup about 15 times.
I need to force it to do this, No Bull @#$%* messin up like Perfect Disk (latest version) does.

i dont trust speedisk.. It caused major problems in windows 98.. on mine and my friend's computer. New version might be better, but still.

Why did you run checkdisk 15 times? Was it able to complete and was the disk ok?

You would have to get though the checkdisk before you can defragment it.

When ever I start having a lot of problem i take the easy way out and just reformat. Gets the job done.

Diskeeper will do an offline bootfiles/pagefile/MTF defrag.

someone told me u gatta run scandisk a few times sometimes for Perfect Disk's boot/offline defrag to work.
Yes, that sort of helps, but when Perfect disk actually starts it justs says Perfect Disk failed to boot/offline defrag or something... i restart.. then perfect disk boot/offline defrag shows a working startup progress for 3-4 secs.. then windows loads up... While perfect disk did NOTHING. I goto the Perfect Disk program itself and it says C:\ Still needs a boot/offline defrag and shows fragments and stuff. Smartplace defrag doesnt get to the deep stuff.

I think you should uninstall perfect disk and try to reinstall it . You might have a bad copy. mine works great. Pm me and I can send it to you...

ah that works.
Thanks.

Perfect Disk also said it didnt need a Boot/Offline defrag n e more.
Guess I'll use both programs.

Diskeeper for Boot/Offline Defrag & Defraging
Perfect Disk for Smart Placement Defrag which organizes files by usage.
