i ordered a gbit server from h-ie. 2x750 GB HDD. for the raid option i clicked no since i didn't know what it meant. but i've since heard you get faster speeds with raid 0. is that true? if so is the difference noticable? and if they charge me for raid is it worth it? thanks

Get Raid 0 only if are gonna use the box with high speeds continously .. HDD space Vs stability thats the question u have to answer

RAID 0 (striped disks) distributes data across several disks in a way that gives improved speed and full capacity, but all data on all disks will be lost if any one disk fails.
It gives a ~80% boost in disk operations, but the average read access stays the same.

so down/up speed won't be effected? will it have an effect on packing/unpacking rars?
