I think thats the best one out there thats not above 300 bucks. I personally have the geforce fx 128mb.. got it for 60$ works like a charm.

The Radeon 9600 is a nice selection, but I would still go for the 9500 pro if you can find one cheaper, as it has 8 pixel pipelines as opposed to the 9600 pro.

There are no 9500pro's at my local stores

I heard 9500 Pro is faster than 9600 Pro.. it costs more too.
ATI took away the 8 pixel pipelines on 9600 Pro and used 4 instead.. it is slower. :(

You could ask you local vendor if they will open a regular 9500 box for you and then see if if the ram chips look like:
http://duhvoodooman.com/9500mod/9500.jpg

If so, buy it and you are very likely to be able to mod it to a 9700 pro.

If it looks like this
http://duhvoodooman.com/9500mod/9500pro.jpg
you can read about this more here (http://duhvoodooman.com/9500mod/9500mod_1.htm)

then you might be able to convert it to a 9500 pro for the price of the 9500 non pro.

What is up with all of you youngsters on this board?

The 9500Pro is more expensive because ATI took them off the market, and it IS faster than the 9600Pro

The 9600Pro is the fastest card below the idiot price range, so I like it

There's no 9500 Pro on there, only a standard 9500, and that's on back order.

The 9600 Pro is a cracking card for Half Life 2. It astonishingly performs just a tiny bit below Nvidia 5900Ultra. Great Value for money.

Yea, i heard ATI took out the 8 Pixel Pipeline on the Radeon 9600 models (it has 4)
9500 pro is actually faster with 8 pixel pipeline.

dunno about 9600 pro.. maybe it's the same.. with higher Mem and Clock speed

Some people claim Radeon 9500 Pro,maybe 9600 pro, 9700 Pro, 9800 Pro are faster than the Nvidia Geforce FX 5600 128mb. I sorta agree cause i think that 5600 only has a 4 pixel pipeline. (having an 8 pixel pipeline dramaticly increases fps and benchmark scores)
