Does your motherboard support ATA133 (its a faster connection, ATA133 = 133Mb/s instead of ATA100 = 100Mb/s)
That would be worth checking first, if you've got your motherboard manual.

yeah support ata 133.
Seek time is also important.
8ms compared to 8.9ms may not sound much, but it is actually a considerable improvement.

Well... I have just one question. Is the Western digital 8MB or 2MB buffer? In your post it shows 8 and 2.
At this point in time I wouldn't consider anything smaller than 80 GB. (Price/value ratio)

Listen to FC.
Wait a bit and scan the paper for sales.
I just got two WD ATA133 7200rpm 8MB cache 160 GB HDs for $99 each.
Of course I'll probably retire before the rebate checks arrive...
why not just partition your larger hdd into a 100gig drive, then the rest for windows, or whatever u want as windows size.

i read in another that is better to have two different hdd, i edit videos and i'm having problems because i have them in the same hdd and i woul like to use my 120 just for video editing.
have u not even got an old computer lying about or anything, on my other pc i got a 4gig windows drive and a 80gb for all my stuff.
but on my laptop just got the one drive, partitioned into 2. so i dont lose anything when i format

i had one but my father took it to built a pc. and my sister has an old pc but i don't think she would give it to me.
or u could ask ur mates if there thinking of buying a new drive, and u buy the old one, thus putting money toward there new one.
