Installing 32-bit drivers on a 64-bit OS?

I have to install these (http://www.winfordeng.com/download/portio32_1.4.zip) drivers, but they're only for Windows x86. Is there any way to install them on my x64 Windows XP installation? :ermm: Thanks in advance!

Can you not use the old gamers trick and use the compatibility wizard in Win XP ?

^ Nah, desktop. I need to install these for an Xbox 360 modding tool, which needs to be connected through a COM port. Since I'd rather connect through USB, when I connect the tool to the computer, these drivers will "convert" the USB port to a COM port. At least that's how I understand it.

What is this compatibility wizrd you speak of? Got me curious. :lol:

Using the compatibility wizard to try to install unsupported drivers is never a good idea. But that's not your case here. Many hardware manufacturers provide only 32 bits drivers to either 32 bits or 64 bits OSes.

Unless it is saying to install the drivers ONLY on 32bits Windows and NOT on 64 bits Windows, you should be fine.

That sucks. Best bet would be to write to the author of those drivers. Other than that good luck ;)

Those drivers provide an interface to rs232 serial ports at hardware level, I've used them in the past. From what you've described these drivers aren't what you want, they certainly don't have the capability to interface with USB ports.

What you need is a USB to serial adapter, something like this.
