Is it worth it ? I mean with all the capping going on is it a suitable buy ..
I would be doing a minimum of 5tb on it (ofc through sharing)

I would say, If you have your heart set on OVH, to go with the regular OVH "Superplan BestOF" because you get premium bandwidth. They are the same price.

Nah i want higher speeds in comparision to higher HDD space .. also i doubt they will cap me before 5tb limit  ...
My heart is not set on OVH the actual reason is that it ownt make sense to get a Hosting IE gbit for just 1 month (with the setup cost n all) ...

I have one :) Highly recommended for sites like ScT/SCC.
Got 35MB/s down on it and 70MB/s up.

Should work really well in trackers where there are lots of peers in the OVH datacenter, so any decent trackers since you'll have 1gbps ovh to ovh transfers happening. As far as the Standard SLA goes, I'm not sure what the threshold would be. But I am sure others use this box and could be more informative than I.

you have to download a hell of a lot to be capped something like 11TB!!

I took the traffic series, so I get 4tb a month, however, i'm guaranteed full speed..

Damn .. traffic series aint rite for te bandwidth bro .. But its a cautious choice .. I mite just go in for the standard series to chk it out .. The only reason i wud prefer this over others is that Scc and ScT is just full of OVH so no point getting any other :P

ovh doesnt cap u if u do 5TB with only 1 account..

apextwin146
01-04-2009, 02:22 PM
i just did 7.7tb on a L and that too with 2 server per account ..

the thread is about 4XL ..

hardly makes a diff buddy.. But also depends on nature of transfer.. If mostly ovh-ovh , i dont think they will bother.

Good point on ScT and SCC it will be mostly OVH to OVH .. But in anycase i expect to do more than 7tb with a giga otherwise i wudnt pay the premium ;)

i have 4xl and cannot get any kind of good upload speeds. i don't know the reason maybe there is a problem with my settigns, i'm using ubuntu and utorrent

apextwin146

what kind of RSS r u using? what are the upload speeds u r getting?

dimutri

i don't use rss but if i jump to a very fresh tracker i get maximum 2 mb up, i had similar problem with a 100 mbit ovh box

2mbps is like real bad man even for a 100mbit connection .. Has ur wine and uTorrent been setup up properly .. If the problem persists then get rTorrent and setup IRC RSS with it .. is it a problem with a specific site or all ? I mean try testing it on a sCT torrent

i don't ow if there is a problem on utorrent or wine but i don't think so. I get good speeds on download but not on upload. The server is 4xl which is 1gb and still gets same up speeds . I have tested on sct, scc, TL i dont believe is a problem of the tracker but a problem of settings, i have started a thread about this asking some help a while ago.

Dimutri,
What OS are you using? 32 bit or 64 bit.
And then what version of wine.

dimutri..

it must be a wine bug... which drops peers when the upload speed increases.. cuz 2MB/s for 1gig server is not acceptable..

I dont have 4XL, but have two ovh EG BestOf 1gig server ( 1- .com , 1 - .co.uk ) with premium SLA.. and the max Upload speed I have seen so far is ~57MB/s

Dimutri, where did you get the server. I had the same problem with mine, got shit speeds it couldnt get peers ect. kimsufi have 3 series, standard, traffic, and burstabel. The standard series is an infrastructure based server which does not feature guaranteed speeds of 100Mbit/1Gbit, If this is the case, you might want to consider asking your reseller if you use one, or contact ovh, and get them to change it to either burstabel or traffic series, this is free, and the effect is instant.

If you buy this product through a reseller maybe you must share the bandwidth (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1178523) with all the servers that have that reseller

i got it straight from their web page so i have to ask the traffic or burstable range of server fro kimsufi? i hope this is the problem indeed

Cant hurt to ask ovh if your not sure which series you have, your problem sounds like mine, and changing the series solved it for me..

Then all you need to do is go to your control panel and look.

i ve sent them a request to change yesterday still have got no reply i will inform you if this resolves the situation

update is i cannot even change to burstable or traffic and the problem persists, total waste of money this server
