I have two NW cards now, since the one integrated in the motherboard is mailfunctioning.
I have installed drivers for the new NW card, but whenever I switch off the comp, I have a werid prob, the fan shuts off, and immediately restarts, thus turning the comp back on.
The dudes at my ISP said that that is a BIOS prob, and that I need to disable it. They said they would call me to send someone, but 2 weeks and nuthin. So I turn to you.
Can any of you give me a detailed strategy to safely disable the integrated NW card from the BIOS?
(If that is poss. I tell you what ISP told me:P)

So did they say it was the network card waking the computer up? If so you may need to find the option in bios called "wake on lan" and set it to off.
Do u know how to get into bios and get around?

I explained the prob to them, and they said at first that lack of drivers for the new card was the reason. I got those, and still prob. So then they blamed BIOS.
I know how to get into the BIOS, and to get around I can read my way to. I'll give that one a try and report back here if it worked.

EDIT: Nope, I couldnt find it... I need more detailed strategies for that one...

This is stupid but....

If you have 3d-mark 2oo1 you can check >Run>sysinfo for mobo brand and bios version

Nah just run dxdiag

Select RUN/KÖR on the start menu and write "dxdiag"

Svensk?
Yup! :D Min norske kollega

There ought to be a model number too, you know under "systemodel" that should be enough to find a manual, OR you can install the stuff muscleman wants you to.

dxdiag is enough to get what you want though, search for an exe if you don't understand what I meant, it's there on your HD.

Be careful about your BIOS though, liveupdate is ok, but watch out if you ever try to update your bios on your own, I've had to open my chassis and short circuit my BIOS-chip to get it working alright once when I got too experimental with my bios.
