oh well i got that Fuel album anyway only took an 1hr and a bit celery for some reason your the only user I had reasonable dsl speeds with range form 24k and dropped to 0.3 it was all over the place werid :blink:

yeah i know its weird...i haven&#39;t even listened to the new fuel yet...i been too busy to give it the time it deserves...i will chuck it on tomorrow and write up a review...i got an assignment to do tomorrow...so i dunno when i&#39;ll get around to it...but right now im really burnt, sore, tired and feeling very emotional...so i might catch some sleep...laters all and have fun :D

Sting has been out there for about a week now, though unless its a greatest hits compilation, I&#39;m not interested. Though its nice to see effort by others in our room. We seem to have some new IRC users as of late, and the rips are coming in much faster now. :)

Has got it now jibbs...well have had it for a while today...i just been out for a while and yeah trying to take my mind of things...not really working...but all is good...aswell as that i have the limp bizkit ft snoop dogg single with 4 versions of it with: clean, dirty, instrumental and acapella...also have robert randolph & the family band - unclassified (a nice funk band)...found a nice APC bootleg...a perfect circle - a night in the void 2003 live bootlegs...and i also found a nice Amen bootleg of them live in manchester...and thats been pretty much it the past 2 days...sowwy for not much...but shit happens...and keep spreading the love in soulseek http://www.klboard.ath.cx/style_images/1/icon12.gif

Olibomb, stay with me here. :) I believe the separate thread issue was regarding the retail dates of CDs vs. my "release list". All conversation regarding new music (and old) is welcome here. If there is enough talk and interest regarding a something new or upcoming, one of us IRC geeks will gladly grab it and throw it up. I&#39;m gonna work out a system with a few users on this board to make the list more comprehensive, as alot of people have shown interest in it.

However, in order to do this, we need to remember that security is the #1 priority in this game. A few people will receive PMs in the next day or so, and I&#39;ll try to put something together. In the meantime, keep the conversation in one thread. We are all friends here, and there is much music love to go around.

There will always be "other threads" that pop up. If they contain new content, then they stay open, if not they get closed. The MODS are very much on top of things. ;)

Lookout&#33; and Green Day have been working on re-releasing both of the band&#39;s Lookout&#33; albums. Here are some details - both albums are being re-mastered (supervised by the band) and will sound better than ever; both will be released in new expanded packaging with more pictures, info etc; and there will be enhanced CD features built in to both titles with archival materials from Lookout&#33; and Green Day&#39;s vaults. Expect the first revamped re-release, "1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" which combines the band&#39;s first album and vinyl-only EP tracks in late October. I&#39;m gonna post this again, because people continue to ask:

A simple mp3 tutorial---what the TAGS mean:

RETAIL: A retail rip is taken from the store bought CD. It should consist of a full track listing and covers scans from the CD.

PROMO: Ripped from a promotional CD that is distributed to radio stations for airplay and promotional events, giveaways, etc. These are usually pre-retail rips that could contain extra/rare tracks, etc.

ADVANCE: Ripped from an Advance copy. These are always pre-release, and are used for magazine/internet/radio reviews,etc. Advance copies usually have the same songs as the retail, but not always. Many times you&#39;ll find the songs are in a different order than the retail CD, or that some tracks have been added/removed/renumbered. Also, advance copies are rarely mastered, so there is a reason to redownload the retail rip when it comes out.

SAMPLER: Ripped from a sampler copy, a small selection of upcoming tracks from a new CD.

VA: Various Artists

OST: Official Sound Track

CDS: Compact Disc Single

CDM: Compact Disc Maxi-single similar to a CDS, except it may contain live/rare/extra tracks to encourage people to purchase it.

DVDA: DVD Audio, or very simply, audio tracks ripped from a DVD release.

PROPER: If a release group rips a CD incorrectly, a "proper" rip may be needed to correct it. A CD may need a proper for a number of reasons, i.e. mp3 tag info incorrect, noise in the release, missing songs, etc. Usually the .NFO file will have an explanation on why its a "proper".

NFO: An .nfo file is basically an information file provided by the ripper about the release. DO NOT DELETE THESE FILES. It should have a track listing, track length, CD title, source, ripping format (Lame/EAC) and any other info relating to the release. NFO files can be opened with Notepad, though they don&#39;t always display properly. I highly recommend using an NFO viewer such as GetDiz. It is a text editor that uses a special font for displaying ASCII art and release info properly. GetDiz is available here.

SFV: Simple File Verification files are used to verify that all the songs/files in a rip are included and are CRC free (not corrupt). DO NOT DELETE THESE FILES. You CANNOT tell if an mp3 is corrupt by listening to it. You need to learn to use SFV files if you are remotely serious about your music/mp3s. QuickSFV or EasySFV Creator will work perfectly.

Scene TAGS: such as: RNS, CSR, PMS, FNT, BUTT, KSI, IRO, EOS, and many more. I don&#39;t want to get into much detail here, but basically these are acronyms for the names of release groups who rip and distribute these mp3s to you. Quick note: IRO stands for Internal Ripping Organization, which means they re-rip many popular titles, basically older material, not new releases. EOS stands for Economy Of Sound, and they use VBR/alt.preset.standard for their releases.

CBR: Constant Bit Rate describes the bitrate at which the file is sampled. Generally a higher bitrate means better quality, but the filesizes are larger too. Typically you&#39;ll see 128, 160, 192, 256, and 320. The "scene" or industry standard is 192 which results in a small size with near CD quality sound.

VBR: Variable Bit Rate is a new form of compression that is supposed to give the highest quality sound/size ratio. The VBR preset standard was designed with the help of thousands of audiofile/computer geeks.

If you use the UP/DOWN arrows on your keyboard, you can scroll thru text that you&#39;ve send to the channel. You should see your "requests" there. More importantly, I was pointing out that if you re-request the file, it will resume the download if you have your IRC setup properly.

Goto DCC-----&#62;then Options------&#62;then the DCC tab

You want to set up the SEND and CHAT boxes so that they say "autoget file and minimize... if file exists, resume" :)

IRC as a program is nothing special. Its barely a chat program, certainly not meant for filesharing. However the community of people there have access to amazing things. Keep at it, there is a steep learning curve compared to the "click and point" of klite, but you should see some benefits after you find good channels. :)

Topsites are a place where the rippers send their releases to. They get evaluated for completion and then released to the "public". You can see what is ripped everyday with those 3 websites listed. Some of us download from private FTP and have "topsite" access, meaning we can download alot of these rips thru a distribution system at high speeds with little searching. :)

Tag them how? Most rips have the group name (their initials) somewhere in the filename. Or were you referring to the IDV tags? :blink:
