I can give you newsgroups for free. It means no uploading and full downloading with about the same pretimes as in torrents. It is very easy and I will go over it step by step if necessary. In return I would like an invite to a level 5 or up tracker.

because newsgroups does not offer everything regarding music, especially the genres I like. They offer a lot but sometimes something is too difficult to find. Though I can manage with newsgroups very well, sometimes doing torrents is fun. And I want to share the luck I had with the servers with other people, as long as they are fair and honest to me!

Differences:

newsgroups uses a .nzb file where torrents use .torrent files

the files of torrents are grasped from torrent sites either private or public whereas the .nzb files are grasped from database websites who just keep all the files

a user uploads a torrent and if there are no uploaders the torrent dies. In newsgroups somebody posts (uploads) a movie or something on some kind of server (NEWSGROUP) like alt.binaries.dvd etc. and the post is kept there.

Torrents can be downloaded for over years as long as there are seeders. .nzb files can be downloaded also over years but the newsserver with which you download the file differ. Some have a retention of 90 days, others of 120, and others of 200. The one I am offering has a retention of 120 days.

One big remark is that in newsgroups you only DOWNLOAD, you do NOT UPLOAD, at least it is not necessary, there is no ratio thing or something going on.

It is a specific example to a general problem. Newsgroups does not have everything. So yes in the example you are right, none of the level 5 trackers has music on it or is specified in music. But the music served only as an illustration to a broader problem of newsgroups.

just say : i am trading axx to newsgroup and i want level 5 and up , its easy and clear for all.
btw almost every thing (90%) of what is posted on torrents sites (inclued music sites) are from newsgroup , and as i know you can request there and they are very fast to filt your request ... good luck for your trade ;)

Sorry but that's nonsense. Any decent site has scene axx. I'm not talking about uber leet sites either. Perhaps some of the smaller starting up sites use newsgroups but not many if any at all of the bigger ones use them.

The difference between newsgroups and torrents especially is that with newsgroups, EVERYTHING that is posted, you can grab, in torrents you need to have access to the private tracker, which is often not the case. Furthermore in newsgroups very old stuff gets posted and is available for lets say 120 days. A lot of people might not need that old stuff in torrents so the torrent dies pretty fast.

And yes it is in a sense a trade, but common. I ask something which is 10 times smaller then what you get. You dont need to share, you only download, and much more is available.

But torrents sometimes have stuff that newsgroups DO NOT have or which is not uploaded at the moment (I am Dutch and we have a program called FTD which is big but still not big enough), and that's what I need torrents for.
