We don't delete posts unless they offend someone.

There can be problems installing corporate after regular norton. You might have to search and destroy all norton entries in the reg like LUcom, symevent, VBOX, all that crap.

asmithz

I did change it to .exe I know why i had a CRC error. If i keep my internet connection on to long (it was on for 10 hours) my ISP freezes and i have to dissconect and reconnect. I have DAP so i think that it screwed up there. Thanks for the help. This will be the last time if it doesnt work i am just going to stop, and stick with pro 2003. Right now i am at 25%.

It's gotta be your connection. I just opened it here and it's fine.

Have you tried the winrar repair? I believe there's a recovery record included in that archive.

Where do i get Winrar recovery from. Also i know theres a program that fixes CRC erros. Or should i just try one more time?

balamm

winrar has a built in repair option. Check the tools menu I think. and if that doesn't work, I'll try unpacking it and send it that way.

What's the dif between corp and 2004?

Corporate's not really much different, other than the interface.
It also allows it to be managed by a NAV server, if you've got one on your network.
It may be a bit lighter on system resources, but I'm not sure.

Corporate is extremely different. It doesn't throw fits and go into dos every time it suspects something, it doesn't bog the PC down when it scans, it doesn't take ownership of the computer, it doesn't install a million useless reg keys, It doesn't take all day to do a scan. It's meant for server/client systems so it won't interupt or slow anything down. In most cases, you won't even know it's installed unless you download a virus. Even then, it pops up a very small box but quietly lets the computer continue while it deletes or quarantines it. Very effective AV at no expense to your computer.

It's in the binaries(newsgroups) I've got it on my drive, may put it inmy shared folder for Kazaa..

Can it scan compressed files like 2004?

balamm

Yes, full heuristics and at least 3 levels deep. The real time scan engine is much more efficient so not much makes it into the computer anyway.

If it's so much better, than why don't Symantec base 2004 off of it? It's like Microsoft using that horrendous 9x kernal for so long while the much better NT kernal was readily available.

Its not for home users, its for big bissness companys. Thats why they dont base it on corp. its just suppose to sit in the background being silent like a mouse. :P

Well, I installed corp.. but I can't get rid of the tray icon. I don't like tray icons. How can I disable it? I think by removing the "vptray.exe" entry from the startup programs. Will this disable the program itself, or just the icon? Seems to me like vptray is just the systray icon. I think RTVscan.exe is the scanning engine itself. What do you guys think?

cant you just set windows to hide the icon.

corporate is so much better then the normal nav that im wondering why dont they just put a little nicer gui on it and then they have the best home av on the market by far.

Even if windows hides the icons, they are still running... using resources. I want it disabled.

I've had corp for about an hour and it's looking good so far. Installation was a hassle though, because I installed it w/o uninstalling NAV2004 first. I'm so dumb. >_<
