Speed, pretimes, fake files are the main problems with public trackers.

But many a times, the speed on public trackers is usually better on rare or old content because of the sheer amount of users.

Simple answer Seedboxes.

lets say you have 4000 seeders on a public torrent, you can only connect to 50 of them, which means 50KBs usually.

now a private tracker with 1 SB member, you can max your download on them.

so the difference is, do you like to share or not, if not, use public slower downloads, but you can Hit and Run, Private = faster downloads if you connect to a seedbox, but you have to seed back.

private for me.

public torrents will always have a place with the BT world
Private trackers are the way to go once you know your shit

If you don't have a very good internet connection and won't use the tracker often, then a public tracker is the way to go, but you're better of on a private tracker if you plan using it often and have a good internet connection. :D

Yep but places like Piratebay or H33t have their place too , if looking for rare programs or old movies .

I don't seed on public trackers for some reason, whereas I seed months and years on private ones.

The ratio would keep you honest , that's the whole point . Most noobie friend's I give an invite to always share two to one on the public trackers . Thats all they know .

First thing they do is give a donation upon joining , which I frown upon but their usually older and have the money .

The only time I've used a public tracker was to download GTA4 PC :D. Other than that the speeds and fakes keep me away from using it.

Public trackers are open for everyone, they don't judge upon you and won't shut you off.

Unfortunately they are full of spybots, leechers and crooks

In all honesty i do not know what i would do without TPB, it has provided me with countless content over time that i was unable to find
elsewhere. Sure the speed may suck sometimes but at least i was able to acquire what i needed.:)

Public for people that are just starting on the torrent world on don't know much about the web, or really don't need anything better...

Private are for people like us that have been in the "scene" for some time, have the resources, people that search and want to know more...

Fake files and Viruses in Public trackers :phone: :gossip:

Slow speeds and malicious members, such as anti P2P..

Definitely different.

a private tracker is a close-knit community of upper-classes merchants and artisans, while a public tracker is some unsanitary open market with shady Arabian traders in the middle of U.S-infested Iraq.

it's like that: MS Office is for sale, Open Office is free. Open office also good too but not good as MS Office :)
