View Full Version : Nvidia Forceware vs...
...garden-variety drivers.
What's the scoop?
I've read that Forceware should only be installed in safe mode and old drivers should be "scrubbed", etc.
I've got an EVGA 9600GT running on Vista 64-bit; I'm not a hard-core gamer, but I want the good stuff.

Stuff and nonsense.
Just install that shit like any other driver...no magic or voodoo involved.
Commencing with the shit installation, sir.
It used to be the case that sometimes old drivers were not removed properly, including Detonator, Forceware, standard and it applied to both Nvidia and Ati.
These days all those problems have been sorted out.

not true, they do exist.
take GTA4 and the transparent textures as an example. all over nzone there are topics stating that.

Sorry, you misunderstood me, I wasn't saying there are no problems with the drivers.
I was saying there are no longer any problems about partial replacement of old versions of the drivers.

I have to agree, the newer versions of Forceware & Catalyst drivers have very good removal routines and automatically remove the old driver components cleanly, there is no need to remove the existing driver in safe mode.

That was for the cat's amusement.
