Hello, I have an original Xbox that has a Spider mod chip v.1 that I would like to remove because it does not make a good connection and does not work well.

I would rather like to softmod the Xbox. The problem is that the Xbox's hard disk has been upgrades to a larger one (160gb) and I do not have the original hard drive(lost it while moving).

Is it possible to softmod this Xbox with the expanded hard drive and then remove the mod chip?

Thanks, Carl

P.S. The hard drive has evoX on it and everything and I can FTP to it. Thanks again.

Carl, yes you can definitely do it.
You need to keep your modchip in place, FTP over an exploitable game save. Then you can remove the modchip. After removing the modchip, you can use a retail version of an exploitable game (MechAssault, 007 Agent Under Fire, SplinterCell 1) to load the game save and softmod the XBOX.

I'm happy to guide you through it if you'd like.

Let me know.

Thanks Macka, I have already got it done. Did pretty much exactly what you said.

Thanks again.

Yeah, they are pretty hard to find these days. There are some sites with rapidshare links out there and a quiet a few on Pirate Bay if you want to wait a week because of slow uploaders.

Yeah it's true. I hear that Blackcats-Games is the best option. I hope I can get an account there soon!
