You sound very convincing there MR.FOX.. hmmm, not really.
I've never tried the Gbit server there, but VPS and 100Mbit dedicated are good, from VPS you get the speed you can expect for it..
The dedicated I always had great speeds with, since they are resellers of Keyweb, which have one of the biggest datacenters in europe. Also great peering to meny countries, especially france, netherlands and sweden.
your "friend" may had bad setup or something, or maybe he dont know how to use it properly.
