View Full Version : Seedbox [cheapo dedicated or tflux 12+ torrents]

i've been out of the seedbox scene for a long time, and now i'm way out of that league.
i've checked a few sites with their prices, etc and yet i haven't reached any decent conclusion.

what i look for is something around this (price IS the main factor):

1. if it is a dedicated one, i need only something like 60gb HDD, few ram, etc. I don't need it for buffering my accounts, but more to survive at some sites i'm having a hard time. it can even be metered, but at least 1 or 2 tb month (though i think i won't need that much).

2. a shared one with tflux or utorrent webui, that allows at least 12+ simultaneous torrents. HDD can also be around 60~80gb, can be 100mbits metered (again 1 or 2 tb month).

again, price is my main concern. of course that many of you will say "but for more 5€ you get a much better one". I know that, i just can't spend any money, as i'm still paying a lot of expenses.

Thanks for the inputs!

EDIT: i'm .EU based, if that makes any difference, have paypal.

man, the cheapest possible. if it can be 1€ then be it.
it's more to know which sites really offer cheapo combinations for what i need. nothing fancy as many have.

well you can get shit for 10 euros and under but you would be looking at a tiny HD.

my recommendation for a dedicate server is: http://www.leaseweb.com/en/products/dedicated-servers/packages/34/
for 30 euros you can get a powerful server, this is good if 2 TB is really enough and your ultimate goal is NOT try and get 3TB upload on some account so you can be cool:)
it's a very fast box, your bandwith will probably be gone in a lot less than a month but it will do the job quickly.

As for a seedbox, you can get a shared one for around 20 euros with a large HD, but 12 torrents is tough, also you must be careful from shady reseller sites, since they are usually the ones to offer shared services.
2 recommended ones are:
http://seedplace.org.uk/cart.php?gid=3 here you can get 180GB with 8 torrents for 18 euros
http://seedhost.eu/seedbox here you will get same or more HDD, less amount of torrents for a few more euros

http://seedhost.net/seed.html here for 25 euros you can get everytihng you wanted but ive seen various reviews on these guys so i can't say that i personally trust them at all.

Basically both will do the job if you really only want a couple of terras, shared will take more time with slower speeds, for a bit more cash and if you know how to read a guide on how to install utorrent on linux you get your own server directly from the retailer, top speeds but youll be out of bandwith before you know it, and i warn you not to go over the max cause it might cost you.

well, thank you very much for the help. i checked seedhost.eu site (shit, all names for these sites look the same  ) and seemed legit.

for all i've seen, i think i'll go for the dedicated on leaseweb running debian.
do they care if you are torrenting on the server?

yes the first 2 seedbox links are 100% legit.

leaseweb is surely the best choice, from my knowledge they won't mind and i know many large trackers use them, i do recall once reading that the org told them to stop letting some tracker use their serveices but i never was able to confirm if its true or not. since then ive only heard good things about them so it shoudlnt be a problem.

Varsboxes are the best for the price. $15 for 55GB kimsufi slice. unlimited simultaneous torrents, and a very softly enforced limit on bandwith and hdd space. :)

Varsbox is good enough. I am currently using the 15$ one and I easily get speeds of about 3 MB/s up.

What's the URL for "Varsboxes"?

One of the better sites but beware that many of them will not allow you to use their services of torrenting and will cut you off if you do, so make sure it's OK with them.

Varsbox is offered by a member named Vars on what.cd. You will have to contact him through what.cd

4-5 but its balanced. Not all member use high bandwith, after some time of monitoring usage we move some users (with files) to other servers.

E.g. Mr. X use many bandwith, Mr. Y use less bandwith (he is seeding on small, private trackers). We have some servers, on one we have 2xMr. X on second we have 2xMr. Y.

If we see what situation is we will move users for best performance
(1xMr. X and 1xMr. Y on server).

Its a example how it works, sorry for my bad english
nice. i like to see that. the site is the one at your sig? checking now.

Leaseweb's basic server did the trick for me when I used it like you want. They offer great customer service too.

When you exceed bandwith limit in LeaseWeb you can get very very bad surprise with price for additional transfer. When i was owner one machine in LW i always got answer from support after 2-3 days.

no need to badmouth the LW support, they are by far one of the top 3 high quality services for a dedicated server, beats sending some random person money..but do let us know cabalo

nbo i know but it depends what exacly you want - somebody want configure machine, someone wont take care of this. I dont push. About LW as i say "when i was owner..." at the moment i am not. Maybe they are better now (i hope). Good services and prices (as for .nl)...

no, i checked it and they were there.
i'm trying the box now. i must enter a race for some popular release to check what this box is capable of.
right now i'm seeding at PTN and FSC yet, and those aren't very bandwidth demanding sites.

I'm using now a nice seedbox for a low price. Very nice for users who cannot wait for the long OVH setup-time or when your country is not listed on their webpage www.epicseeds.com

For how long you are using their seedboxes? Sometimes first couple days are great then it became to be oversold etc.

cabalo, so how is it?

what is your Upload and Download speed with that Seedbox?

Cabalo
01-23-2009, 06:46 AM
average upload is ~2mb constant, with peaks of 5~6mb when i jump on those SCT packs early or some hdbits or bit-hdtv new releases.
download is 11mb normally.

yep, for my needs is enough so far.
i'm always a bit sceptical, so let's see if the services doesn't degrade with time.

PlayeR

yeah it is more than enough

I am comparing this one with Seedplace's Sbox 1..

it is 7 Euro cheaper but only 8 active torrents

whereas this one is 15 torrents.

Still considering

Cabalo
01-23-2009, 07:40 AM
yeah, 8 active torrents wouldn't be enough for me, as i try to buffer 5 sites.
for a couple of sites, then 8 torrents are enough.

True. that's what I put into my consideration too
