It would be better if your text did not blend in with your background. You could use a table in the center (with a white background) for your text while keeping the page background outside of the table.

Edited to add: I see someone else already brought the above to your attention, but I still hope my suggestion helps.

(people don't like midi's on sites, especially if they can't turn it off...)
