yeah, gibberish predicted it some time ago at the goat, and he was correct.
long story short, the guys created a site and were expecting it to pay for itself after a month. naturally things don't work that way, and they started begging for donations.
That didn't happen, and of course the site closed.

another one bites the dust.

Quoting JayCrist:

Let me rephrase.

My name is JayCryst. I don't really post here, I'm kinda above the 'fapfapfap' that constantly happens.

Here's a little about JC.

JC is the Chief Programmer for three businesses, but yes, he is 17. He is one of the 'advanced minds' who is also Microsoft Certified, and also able to code things that backdraft can't dream about.

I'd post some of the code, but i am under non-disclosure agreements, and I am also a commercial coder (Can't release code) its all closed source.

Anyway, Trackers are 'in my free time'. I don't really have much of it, but what I do I try and help. Originally, I had a team to help with CE. They couldn't help either.

So yes, I'm a 17 year old who works at major companies, has his MCP, and made a few mistakes with the Gazelle system.

Kill me?
Oh; and before he uses it against me. I banned him on CE IRC. Just thought i'd tell you before. But he says he can get around it, so its fine.lulz

They meaning the 2 people in charge earlier. Even though i doubt one of them is still interested in CE after the mess that was cooked up yesterday.
It's going to take some major work to bring it back and improve on the things it was lacking before it went down, so imo it's better if they decide to leave it down.

i'm little bit slow... are they gonna close the site, because they don't have any money to pay the servers costs?

Basically the real reason is that the site owner went broke, and he didn't want to keep paying the server costs. No donations were being received and he didn't see a point to continue wasting money on a tracker who was being neglected.

... and also he hired a coder that messed all the site up, and then bailed out, leaving all the crap on his hands. but yeah, the money was the problem.

hmmm, just read a lot of what was going on with his posts about this at other forum, and you'd know ;)
i just don't post it all here, because it is supposed to stay there, though i think you all caught the idea so far.
by the way, he got banned after insulting everything and everybody there, and repeated use of foul language. I just didn't wake up and talk about him if i didn't know what was going there.
people like albo, kukushka, naix and some others that i already saw at this thread know what i'm talking about.

There was a big argument about this subject yesterday. Cabalo isn't making anything up, he was just posting what he saw.

Even though I felt insulted by some of the things JayCryst said yesterday, I forgive him. He admited himself that yesterday wasn't exactly his best day, and he might have said somethings he didn't mean. I can understand when someone is having a hard time, and can easily slip up so I decided not to hold any hard feelings against him. He also apologized to everybody in that forum. He seems like a smart capable guy, and I wish him luck in his next projects.

Regarding CE... They might not shut down. There's a chance the owner might change his mind. Lets just wait and see.

Yeah, I heard about this too. For more info go to CE's IRC.
Anyway, I wish I was a member of CFS just to have heard all this go down. We didn't get much over at TR.

They had a good idea, i recently was wondering why non ratio sites even count your upload who cares about it just count my seeding time and see if i seed according to the rules.

Well, it is usually used to determine userclass, which influences site permissions/extras. How legitimate that is can be debated, as some sites seem far too interested in restricting even basic functions for lower ranking users. But the only other means of measurement to control that would be forum post count, which isn't all that telling, or account age, which is also not a very good means of determining site standing.

Jay isn't a bad guy, from what I see maybe he knows that since the site will be dead in some time he just cooked up some shit code and left it all there.

PTN's very well coded, oh yeah.

Not really surprised, most trackers that are opening up recently are closing just as quick.

For some reason I think most trackers made in 2006 became the most popular...
