Heres the situation :)

Im at college and have 2 computers hooked up the my college network. Each computer is in a different location on campus. I want to be able to set up a remote desktop so I can control Utorrent. However, the network firewall blocks ports, so this can't happen. Is there a way to override this? Which program would you reccomend. Thanks!

Have you tried Remote Desktop over HTTP, this can be installed by Add\Remove windows components / IIS / WWW Service on Win XP Pro.

If it works it should eliminate the need to add port 3389 to the networks exception list.

Edit: Or you could try this Xampp Server it's an open source program which has a reputation to enable easy comms over heavily firewalled networks

Or you could try simply appending the open port number, i.e. 80 or whatever other incoming connection ports are open on your school network like 443(use any port sniffer to find out which ports are open), to the address of the PC you want to remotely access/connect to?

your.remotePC.address:443

This presumes..

You have changed the Remote Desktop listening port on the PC

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304304

....OR...configured port redirection on any firewall/router the PC is behind
to redirect incoming TCP Port 443 traffic to TCP Port 3389. Here is an
example for SSH but you can do the same for Remote Desktop...

Another option is to access the remote PC through a VPN. For example I have
accessed my home LAN through an OpenVPN tunnel using a UDP Port like 11503
for example then run Remote Desktop through that.
