I remember seeing a table once that showed the various sound levels expected from machinery, jets, funny cars, etc. I don't recall even a jet take off being quite that high.

That aside though, how f**king unpleasant would it be to try listening to anything at that pressure? You'd maybe feel sounds better than hear them after just a few seconds exposure to that level of noise.

Does that also say 6" speakers for bass? Why?

@ nikita69, mine might be impressive as PC sound systems go but it's not majorly expensive. 4x10" Subs, 4x5" low mids, 2x3" upper mids, 2x1" polymeric dome tweeters, 2x1" carbon dome tweeters, 2x 300watt x 2channel amps for mids and highs, 1x 600 watts x2 channel amp for bass. powered by 12 volt, 600 amp battery. Constantly on charge!!

even the loudest car setups (in the region of 16 amps and subs) produce 150 odd dB

you have to remember that an increase of 3 dB requires approx double the input power...

@balamm, a jet take off at 100m is generally approx 130 dB

i don't understand that watt thingy or carbon something :D . aw, i'm happy with my bang & olufsen speakers.
