Is it Usenet,BitTorrent or Rapidshare and others?

No one can decide for you, they all have pros and cons.

I will try to make a rough comparison between them.

Newsgroups:
* have new movies, series, music etc.
+ full speed downloading without limits
- there is no free ride on usenet, you have to pay
- past files vanish and need to be re-uploaded to stay available
+ old system converted, by this good bypassing of copyright law

BitTorrent:
+ it's free: up for down
- slow upload makes this deal difficult
- in many places, your IP isn't secured against lawyers
* in answer to those problems, invite-only structures
- this means hassle and a waste of time
+ no piracy business, but community

Rapidshare:
+ free download is possible
- premium accounts are very limited (2.6GB/day)
+ long storage of files, unless reported
+ they secure you against snoops, like usenet
- no central search, content is scattered among blogs, forums, anything
+ this also means there are many specialized corners out there

All depends on what you want. you want fast, no strings attached, you have to pay for it. Usenet and Rapidshare are the way forward. You want to max out your download and dont mind leaving torrents running on provate trackers? BitTorrent FTW. I know which Im taking anyway

0 past files do not vanish, your newsserver is just not able to get the files, which is often after 120 days.
+ old system converted, by this good bypassing of copyright law

I think newsgroups are the best because its more secure and you get full download speed.

No single method is the optimal solution looking from the content POV .. combination of RS + Torrent+ DC ++ works out the best for me ..

Rapidshare:
+ free download is possible
- premium accounts are very limited (2.6GB/day)
+ long storage of files, unless reported[/B]
+ they secure you against snoops, like usenet
- no central search, content is scattered among blogs, forums, anything
+ this also means there are many specialized corners out there

- or +
Well 2.GB/day is not real, coz u can dl more if u didn't dl everyday 2.6GB
you will save ur dl' traffic up to 12GB, so per month u can't dl more than 80 GB,
but that's all bullshit, if u have a Dynamic IP, u can download for free,
UNLIMITED...u just gotta change ur ip when u reached the limit...
+
You forgot to say that a premium can store up to 500GB..

+ And for newsgroups if u clever and know how to search u can grab stuff for free up to 200 days retention.

This is too general a question to have a good answer. First you need to ask what type of material you want to acquire (movies, TV, music, software, games, adult, ebooks...) and second to what extent you are interested in hard-to-find vs common material. Thus my interest is overwhelmingly in recent popular movies--and bittorrent works just fine. But if you interested in harder to find individual music tracks, I doubt if many people would recommend bittorrent as their first choice.

i don't know how people deal with that 2.6gb limit on rapidshare.

They don't when I upload on rs im constantly asked for mirrors. So I gave up.

Usenet ftw :fst:.

torrents are just much easier. with rapidshare you gotta find a good warez site to get the stuff

Sonnentier

And for torrents you need a good tracker - don't see a big difference there.

I'd take torrents, no doubt.

I use a combination of all three(bittorrent, RS, Usenet). But am also starting to get into DC++ a bit.

Unfortunately there isn't one "best" file sharing method. Each has its cons as Sonnentier pointed out.

When we are talking for "Best sharing method", then only torrents is the answer. Because it's the only thing that you can say that you are sharing.

I use torrents, rapidshare and usenet. My preference is usenet for these reasons search able, nzb make it a piece of cake to download from, some great newsreaders make d/l so easy, great communities still going strong ohh and no ratio problems.

I used to use Bit torrent to d/l UK TV but I find these days most go up on usenet. As others have said use what works for you. It is all good.

Bitorrent defiantly + FTP.

Each has pros and cons so like others said there is no best. If you're talking about only sharing, then it's torrents. Because you're forced to upload if you want decent download speeds. If you're talking about just downloading then newsgroups. You don't got to pay to test it. A few providers offer free trials. newsdemon 15GB free powerusenet 10GB
