Yes, Limewire is pretty terrible. Download and install Soulseek instead. It's the best p2p music app that there is. You can download whole albums at once, the speeds are better than limewire(make sure to open a port), you can see the bitrate of the songs before downloading, and I haven't came across one virus in my couple years of using it.

hey being a longtime user of limewire and hearing everyone here bash it i decided to give soulseek a try, i don't get it though, what makes it so great?

im getting like 24kBps when i limewire i get around 300, not to mention i need to browse through different "rooms" and then search only within the room.

am i missing something here, im sure this is a great program im probably doing something wrong, err...

ah nevermind, i wasnt using the general search, i was going room to room.

i also suppose losing some speed isn't so bad. im sure these files are all better quality anyway....

a search of bob marley had so many results it crashed my PC rofl

hmm how come some of the songs are "grey" and says they are remotely queued, what does that mean exactly?

Sonnentier
03-05-2009, 11:25 AM
You don't use SoulSeek for obtaining mainstream music fast. It's old-school peer-to-peer so there is no multisourcing, if someone already uploads files then the result is gray and you have to wait until this peer has some free slots for you to download. The real advantage of slsknet is the availability of all kinds of music.

I've gotta admit I've been using soulseek for the past couple days, and yeah its slow, but damn what a selection, and what quality music. it's great!!

only downside of Slsk is when people mislabel mixes/remixes.

killuminati96
03-07-2009, 01:17 AM
Limewire usually only has crappy quality 128 files. I suspect they're from the Napster days. There are a lot of viruses and your shared folder is constantly scanned by anti-P2P orgs. It is a crap program. It can be pretty fast, sometimes.

Wholly blustered blue balls Batman , who would of thunk Limewire bites ? I still use Frostwire and that's not much better sadly .

I can't find a good site for just singles so just use SoulSeek and Frostwire .

Wow, Limewire used to be the only place I'd go for music. It was only after a few months that I realized how much b/w it took. Tried frostwire, and it might be a little better, but not by much. If I really need a song or two, I'll download LW or FW, but instantly get rid of it when it's done downloading! Can't really do much while either of them are running!

I think frostwire is indeed much better than limewire (Having used both). No spyware and the content seems to be different.

Morpheus is mostly dogshit today also, but I found that Morpheus 5.3 (before it went retail and forced into non-piracy and all) is pretty good at filtering by mp3 and not giving you bs. I found it on a site called morphies that seems to be missing, but saved the installer.

Only sucky thing is you gotta tell it you don't wanna install its searchbar everytime it starts.

I think LimeWire 5 is a very good program, but I'm only using it for music (single tracks, no albums). It looks good, and it's fast. The files are usually MP3 with 128 or 192 bit rate. I'm using DC++ for everything it can't find. Privacy is not a concern at the moment.

once you get a gang of hardcore slsk'rs in your friends list you are golden, i feel bad truly for people that still sift thru the sewage in lime/frost wire. i would use emule w/kad before limewire. bittorrent and slsk is all i need.

Limewire is awesome for Spanish music. Not as good as how Napster used to be or Audio Galaxy but I find that it finds more stuff than other clients. Right now though for rare songs I'm having good luck on warez forums.

SS owns all p2p networks except for BT. Only shit thing about SS is that you rely on the one peer instead of a swarm of peers.

No it shouldn't, an apostrophe signifies something missing, due to a contraction or the like. If you're going to be a pedant, try not to be a retard at the same time.

/sigh

Ownership? Now weather ownership in this situation is appropiate may be debatable.

/back on topic!

Limewire is about as useful as an English dictator on a discussion board where one has to type quickly order while trying to avoid a Copyright Infringement Notice from Anti-piracy agencies.

PS. I know my lack of "," may alarm the likes of some but honestly, Who cares?

When used to express multiples an apostraphe is not used, hence it should have been bs!
