Dvd Freezes When Played But Sound Goes On

I have just joined two avi files of Tears of the Sun and converted it to dvd (very very good picture) but 55 minutes into the film it freezes and the sound carries on. does anybody know how to get rid of bad frames or to check where the frames are in a dvd or any other advice
i dont want to give up on this one because it is such a good copy. ;)
