you should uninstall all codecs and use K-lite codec pack use the full version because it contains a GOOD player called BSplayer try to play the movie in their ( if you dont want the codecpack just download BSplayer from bsplayer.org)

 Hi guys,
a few days ago I had the same prolem with the movie "Irreversible". It just froze at several points during the movie. All I have done, to correct this problem, is open it in Virtualdub. In Video: select "direct stream copy", in audio: verify that "direct stream copy" is selected. Then "save as avi", give it a different name than the original file and press "ok". This worked for me and took about 5 minutes.
