help me with garbled sound playback

i've had this problem before but it went away. now its back and not going away. i reinstalled sound drivers , changed speaker/mic settings around , i dont know what the fuck the problem is. pissing me off. it only does it when i playback a recording. 5783 heres a sample of what it sounds like

i had a similar problem with my last pc. every media player i used would playback with a static hissing sound. it was light but definitely noticable...moreso at lower volumes. it took me about a year of googling and playing with settings. i tried different speakers. i tried putting in a new sound card (i was using the onboard sound). i just couldn't fucking figure it out. lol it makes me angry even thinking about it now.

long story short i gave up. at some point i downloaded vlc and it turned out to be the only player that wouldnt produce the hissing sound. unfortunately vlc doesnt really have an intuitive playlist/library feature. a little over a year ago i built a new pc...but it was too late

moral of the story....i stopped listening to music on my pc pretty much. the only music i hear is my own ego wimpering in the background.

now i wear black nail polish, tight pants, and my hair looks like a rooster shit on itself.

excuse me while i find a razorIf it worked fine with VLC but nothing else, and it also didn't work when you replaced the sound card then it was definitely a software issue, most likely a codec issue.

You didn't provide many details about your configuration in terms of sound card and OS... If you are using Vista you can try changing the active audio codec and check if it works:

Or you can try this (Though i am not sure that it will work with Vista):

I would uninstall on the codecs on my computer and then re-install the k-lite (mega) codec pack.

Hopefully, it will help! If no, come back and i'll throw a few more ideas around.

Please let's know about your sound card and if it is onboard (built-in)!
what software are you using for recording and does it sound good during the recording time?
