For some reason this won't run on my comp correctly. Caused Fatal Exceptions and system freezeup's. I heard it was suppose to be one the best so does anyone know why this won't work on my comp? Could it be I'm running WIN 98 SE?

Also does anyone one know a really good anti-virus that I could run on this OS without any probs?

You'll need to uninstall corporate, regular norton products, install jv16 power tools, search the reg for those names i listed and try it again. There are more junk keys that will corupt the OS but you'll have to search those on symantec.com or google.

I didn't find any of the ones you mentioned, but it did bring up alot of other stuff. Is it safe if I can delete the stuff that showed up, there was alot but I don't wanna mess up my registry if I do.

Anything related to norton you can gt rid of. Did you actually search for it by name? I think it's the third tab over in jv16. Try those names I gave and they should come up. Try just symantec or norton as well. Anything associated should appear.

Try this one http://www.pcmedixwebs.com/download/RegCleaner.exe

I only found the lucom one.

balamm

Well that might do it. Just in case, grab the Symantec remover and run it before you try corporate again.

This one I think http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.n...001092114452606 (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606)

balamm

Yes, it's old.

angelique
09-17-2003, 09:26 AM
k, ran it. should be okay to re-install corporate now?

balamm

Give it a try, if it doesn't work now, I'd guess you have a corrupt install.

when i restarted windows it said windows might need the symevent.386 file to restart correctly, or some error like that. do u know what that's about? it said if you no longer want the file to run the program's uninstaller.

balamm

Ok so your search wasn't complete. Symevent belongs to the regular norton. You're going to really have to hunt down all those keys and any folders left behind in program files.

I ran MSCONFIG and saw some things in C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1, but I can't find those folder's. There in the startup section.

balamm

just type anything like that into the search field in the jv16 box in the tab I showed you . And open "my computer/program files" and look for a norton or symantec folder there, or anything containing those names. Some may say symantec shared

If you type norton, or symantec into the jv16 search, it should bring up most related files. Just delete all those too.

balamm

C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1, is just a truncated folder name so it's still installed obviously. it would be c:\Program Files\symantec.... something..

I deleted some stuff, but to no avail. I keep getting that message when I start up and the crack isn't working, so I can no longer get into the program :( :(. I have no folder named Norton or Symantec in my program files.

Do you have system files and extensions hidden? Unhide them if you do. You can't work like that.
