Mate, if i were you the first thing i'd be downloading is a decent Operating System. Millenium Edition is crap, i bet its crashed on you at least once already this weak hasnt it.

As far as Office XP is concerned, you might have problems. The most popular version on fast track is 404mb and is by ear biscuits. There are loads of sources but the problem is, you can't install either of the service packs to it because its the wrong build number. Don't waste your time with it.

There are other versions on Fast Track, but with very few sources. You might have got it if you'd had a fast connection, you might have a better chance on emule. I'm still using office 2000 sr1 and it does the job just fine.

Good Luck. ;)

Mate, thats bad. Really bad.

Why don't you get XP, or 2000 if your computer is low spec?

I would like to get XP but i dont know if my computer is good enough. Ive got a 1000MHz AMD athlon Processor, 256 mb RAM, 40 gb Hard Disk. Would it work on my system and if so, would it run slow?

I would definitely say search on eMule. The chances of downloading a fake with that are slim to none. That's for Office XP mind you. And yes, most newish OSs are forwards compatible, so you'll be able to work it on ME, 2K and XP!

When i bought my computer it came with ME preinstalled. The first time it crashed was when i was trying to register with Compac (DONT EVER BUY ONE!) it was brand new. I thougght it was my pc so took it back and they "fixed" it. All they did was restart the puter and there. Then three days later it crashd again! I got pissed but there was nothing to do cause they didnt find anything wrong with it. I installed WINDOWS XP PRO (wonder where i got it from  ) and never crashed again!.

Dude GET 2K or XP. Never see ur baby cry for help again! unless u mess with regisger setting <_<

I downloaded the "ear biscuits" version and had problems installing Service Packs & 2 but if you csearch around on Google for how to perform an administrative update, you can do it. Sorry I can't recall the site from where I got the info but it might be something like tacktech.com

Aaaaaaargh!! Sorry about that.

You see the thing is, i'd given up on the idea of Office XP, deciding instead to settle for my Office 2000 SR-1 for the time being. And now, now i'm going to try again to install the service packs - again. You really got it installed? Myself and others have tried and failed. shn, did you ever manage it? Bloody sure i didn't!

I'm guessing that the site you're talking about is Notorious Networks (http://notorious.dezines.com/notorious/articles/index.htm).

Does anyone else have experience of this 'earbicuits' version of Office XP?

There was a version up on BT that had SP2 integrated with Office XP. And Office XP works perfect on my win 98 computer.
