Usually but not always, just waiting works. Sometimes, if there are a lot of seeds/peers listed at the site you got it from, you can close the torrent and re-open it. You most likely won't connect to the exact same users and this can sometimes help.

Good luck :)

Depending on what ports you use, if your ISP is a comindico reseller for instance it shapes most ports except for maybe ftp, browsing and email

U have to understand the fact u are uploading as well that's why u are not going to get your max and if your max is 27 then about 5kb might be the most u are going to get. Because my max is 80 and I get about 12-20 so u do the math.

wow, that's amazing...

1st make sure you dedicate your speed to Bittorent... close the other p2p poggies that will help speed up.
2nd what's your ul speed... some ADSL connections tend to have bad dl speeds when their ul is used to the max... !

you can try to increase the packet size... somewhere in the registry but for that i have to take a look in the manual.... always forgetting where to do exactly. And as it's the registry you better make no mistakes..

The Experimental BitTorrent versions can also let you tweak upload bandwidth useage real-time (well, nearly real-time -- changes take about 1-5 seconds to take effect.)

This is good because not only can you prevent upload bandwidth overloads while downloading, you can increase the upload speed slightly after it finishes because it's no longer using upload bandwidth to download the file.

Actually mine is the same about 640/128 but 512/128 is my legal ISP plan but that's (600/128) 75 down and 16 up

EDIT: Oh, on kazaa I can get up to 100 kB/s

Are you behind a router? If so you'll need to forward ports 6881 to 6889 to your pc's IP address.

Also use the latest BT-client. Especially Shadow's had a few buggy versions

A Few Isp's in Australia have been selling dodgy accounts, one of the major suppliers called comindico has been throttling all non - standard ports, when isps sell comindico connections they are just virtual Isps they own no routers and have no say over how the network is run.
One of there major resellers is called Dodo(yes after an extict bird),
This could explain low speeds on bittorent as ports 6881 to 6889 are certainly non-standard, while depending on what ports you have kazaa set to you can still get full speeds. :D
