Yeah I hear you, since I got a Dvd player that's the only format I buy.
Wanted to buy some Benny Hill videos a while back but they only had vhs format,so I skipped it.

VHS will die, a slow and painful death.

I haven't bought a vhs tape in over 3 years now.

I'm reluctant to give up my vcr because I still tape lots of stuff off tv. That's the only reason I still have one.

VHS in video stores is dying and it won't be long before they're gone altogether.

my local videostore still sticks to the vhs <_< Only the blockbusters are available on dvd there. So i hardly go there anymore. After enjoying the high quality images and sound of dvd(and extra's) I never want to rent or buy vhs again!it's just not the same. And they get even worse after playing them frequently.

I still buy VHS cause are cheap and here in Europe the VHS are still alive. You know how much cost a DVD in EUROPE?Ex:Star Wars Trylogy cost 140 euros ,if i buy the same thing on VHS cost only 60 euros.

VHS is deffinetly history very soon.I had a collection of over 200 movies which I sold of for a couple of Quid each. Now it's only DVD's, in most places the're very cheap to buy anyway.
The ones I can't download I buy them if the're really good.

We still have a VCR and have some tapes for it cause my old man doesn't understand how to work the DVD player.

VCR's were very popular and almost everyone had one but did anyone invest in a Laser Disc Player? We have one sitting in the corner that never gets used because it was to much damn trouble. I hated that you had to flip the damn disc in the middle of a movie, or change the discs out. We have quite a nice expensive collection of Laser Disc's that are sitting in a closet. What a waste.

I've only bought two videos in the last 4 years and that was only 'cos they were really cheap in a sale. All the rest have been DVD's.

Same here for lousy b-series horror and scifi movies... You can't find them on dvd or on the net! If vhs disappears, a whole part of movie history will disappear too! :(

Hi,

VCRs are still good to tape your favorite TV show, or a show that you want to watch but you can't, and you can reuse the tape over and over again.

I have a Panasonic dvd recorder that I bought from Best Buy, ($450), it works like a champ. I record movies off of Showtime and HBO, and also series "Dead Like Me and Free for All" I get blanks DVD-r's for about .85 cents each.

Just found out my mom, bought a crap-load of movies from a yard sale, (100 vhs, for $50). Most of them I already had dvds for.

VCRs, will be around until dvd recorders and hard drive recorders come down in price ($50 to $150)

If I'm to record something or if something isn't available on DVD I buy VHS, otherwise I go for DVD, I put more money on DVD's than I do on food I'm afraid.

I only get DVD's now because I can't be bothered to squint at fuzzy, low contrast, slow fast-forwarding, crap-tapes

but video's are antiques!- stick them under a window and they might rust some more !

I only have a dvd on my computer and its in the corner of the room, I have got a 17" monitor and only have dining room chairs nearby. Needless to say I watch the movies I download but not in comfort. I still have a VHS player and my kids and I use it now and then. As I am a fan of Lexx (see avatar) and they are hard to get on any format, I tend to get VHS if I spot em. Also, many of the Lexx downloads are pretty rough quality so I don't get much choice. <_<

For the most part i don't bother with vhs, hell my vcr isnt even hocked up, but for some school related projects i can only find the video on vhs. so it is suffer the vhs or get an F, i will suffer the vhs.
also there are new digital vhs which on the right tv offer a better resolution than dvds, but the seletion of videos are limited and the players alone are about a grand.
