weird prob. adding 2nd HDD to vista.

Hi guys, I have this problem that I just can't fix.
The thing is I did a clean install of Vista on an 80G Hard Drive, and then I wanted to add a second Hard Drive, a 320 Maxtor that I used on my old Xp machine,
I had 'My Documents' directed to that HD so I only used it as storage, everything went well, Vista installed the drivers and all and I can see my second HD and all it's contents,
the only small problem is that with some of the files in it, mostly some of my Pictures, I can't open them, it gives me this message:
"can't open this picture because you do not have permission to access the file location".

Do you think it has something to do with this HD being previously on an XP machine?, any ideas on what I could do to fix it?,
it is kind of annoying.

Hmmm well is the acct you're on an Admin acct? Also try going to whatever program you are using to open the pic like Windows picture viewer or whatever and right click on it and then run the program as an administrator.

Take ownership of the files.

To take ownership of a file/folder:

1. Right-click the file/folder that you want to take ownership of, and
then click Properties.
2. Click the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
3. Click Edit. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for
an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide
confirmation.
4. Click the name of the person you want to give ownership to.
5. If you want that person to be the owner of files and subfolders in
this folder, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check
box.
6. Click OK

I think you'll need to turn of UAC for this...

Inside the attached RAR file you'll find two registry files - one to add a right-click menu shortcut to take ownership of selected files or folders (including all contents)... and the other to remove that shortcut.

Once you've merged the reg file, right click the documents and settings folder and select "Take ownership". A DOS window will pop up and you'll see all your files becoming yours.

Much easier than pissing around.
