Well, the title says it all, I'm looking for a good U.K. ISP that does not throttle NNTP at peak rates, its a bit of a waist having a good 3rd party newsgroup provider when my ISP turns down my connection every day.

Many thanks for any suggestions, in advance.

Can't you just use SSL?

Well, yes an no, I'd have to pay extra for SSL but I am paying too high for the ISP on the whole (£35PM for 512k), so I hope to kill two birds with one stone here.

Any suggestions guys?

Be*/O2 is the best UK ISp and never throttles anything O2 is £8 per month for 8Mb or about £12 for 16Mb all unlimited transfer

Yeah, sign up for an Astraweb account at this page: http://www.news.astraweb.com/specials/kleverig-11.html

One of the cheapest plans going and includes SSL. Enable SSL and set port to 443, theres no way your ISP would know its NNTP traffic ;)

I use Bebroadband with Astraweb SSL and can max out my connection 24/7 without any problem. Been doing it for over a year now.
Astraweb $11/month unlimited downloads with SSL, Be £13.50 for 8Mb/s.

Was with Virgin before that on 20Mb service. I can download far more with 8Mb due to Virgin's throttling. I used to get 20Mb/s for about 25mins before they cut me back to 5Mb/s. In the end I was only getting 5Mb/s 24/7 for £35/month! Then paying newsgroups on top of that!

Be and Astraweb together inc SSL is £13.50 plus $11/month.

i tried what u said but it seems bt is still stopping me the speeds have come down from 800k to 500k and trying to explain to them what the problem is feels like trying to give birth, i know sky is unlimited 16mb and lots of people are raving about it.

Be is o2.
If you're an o2 mobile contract customer you get £5 per month off.
Helplines all appear to be manned by polite and helpful Scots rather than Indians with cribsheets.

You'll need to get a code from BT to tranfer to o2 ADSL.

What are you doing still reading this?
