Hello,

Since a few days, every exe.file that I download with kazaa lite is infected with a worm/kwbot, and I can't open them even if I ignore the warning.
The worm is in C:\restore\temp and I can't remove them only by performing a system restore back in time.
I'm puzzled; I can't find anything about this problem on the internet.
Hope you can help me.

greetings Ronald

You really need to update Your antivirus program if You dont have any, download one.

There's a lot of good free ones.

It's best to install norton antivirus immediatly after xp is installed for maximum protection.. Make sure AUTOUPDATE is on..

thanks for the fast response. I have the AVG software from grisoft including the latest update.
Does this mean that I better can't download any software from kazaa lite?
this is really the only kind of download that I am interested in.
all the software I tried to download the last few days were infected (screensavers, clone cd), and AVG could not remove the virus without removing the entire download.

Dont forget to shut off system restore, while removing it. Activate it after you have cleared the worm. Is system restore is on, the virus is also saved as part of the backup in the system restore point.

Norton detects worm & kwbot, and keeps it from getting on your comp.

If your antivirus detects something in a exe file, dont open it.

I downloaded a exe and that worm was in it, but McAfee deleted it.

apart of the worms, I also get the message (not from my antivirusprogram but from windows) when I try to open an exe.file : can't get access to file. Possibly you're not authorized to excess the item.
Does somebody have any clue what's the reason for this message.
