Seriously though - The best way to get the votes is to find as many mutual grounds with the students as you can. This is not bend yourself to suit people&#39;s interests; this is likely going to end up a charade you want be able to pull off in the long run (or won&#39;t want to), and you&#39;d risk alienating them when you crash & burn. I mean try to think of what you stand for and whether it can be used to reach out to the students. e.g. I can almost guarantee that around 2-5% (at least, but it depends on what the main opinion is in that area) will be into filesharing yet won&#39;t openly admit it.
Try to use that as a bargaining chip - 2-5% doesn&#39;t sound like much, but that&#39;s a pretty conservative guess (Good chance of it being more), and the more things you can think of, the more people you&#39;re gonna reach out to and the greater your chances are of getting the majority.

But, to throw a bone to the rest - I saw this satire on a video clip at Ebaum&#39;s World, and as Arnie was mentioned earlier I thought why not quote it here to get the ball rolling a bit more
