Hey,

I've seen alot of guides for setting up torrents to automatically download the latest episode of a tv series via rss etc. But I have never seen anything mentioned for NZBs.

Are there any guides out there? Also where would you get the RSS feed or whatever is needed? (I currently use NZBMatrix)

Thankyou

Use altbinz or any other client with RSS support. I like altbinz a lot and there is a very nice guide about how to configure the RSS (http://www.altbinz.net/wiki/Using_RSS_Feeds_and_Filters)

Once you have read that then you can get a feed from one of the several automated usenet search engines (for example binsearch.info or newzleech.com).

Pretty much all 0sec TV releases on usenet are done by a bot (autofiller) which posts them to the groups alt.binaries.multimedia and alt.binaries.tv, a feed for one of those groups should cover most new TV episodes.

These are some of the RSS feeds you could use for the latest TV episodes (if one doesn't seem to work properly try another one)
http://rss.binsearch.net/rss.php?max=50&g=alt.binaries.multimedia
http://nzbindex.nl/rss/alt.binaries.multimedia/?sort=dateTime&max=25&more=1
http://www.bintube.com/rss/g/alt.binaries.multimedia
http://www.newzleech.com/rss.php?n=50&g=alt.binaries.multimedia
http://www.meganzb.com/browse.php?g=alt.binaries.multimedia&format=rss

Of course you could use RSS feeds that search for specific posts instead of just a whole group, if you want to. :)

If you are running a machine that can run perl and can get the proper modules installed, I use nzbivo (http://sourceforge.net/projects/nzbivo/). The "official" release is kind of old, but I have been using the svn tree (https://nzbivo.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/nzbivo/) and it works quite well.

Is getting the files as they are released really necesary? I seriously find myself downloading stuff sometimes weeks or montsh after they are released. I only have 1TB of space to be downloading just anything, especially everything as it's released lol.

Plus my ISP actually bitches about bandwidth abuse although lately they have given me a break.

yeah, i think its best to wait for a while and read reviews from others to see if the file is decent for downloading or has quality issues.

Unless you want to be a power seeder, then maybe rss downloading might be good. But then again, that is for torrents ;)

I have my own rss feed using yahoo pipes in conjunction with SABnzbd.

Here is an example

http://pipes.yahoo.com/sfrazer/filterbyfiletvnzb

You can modify it for your needs, hd, sd etc. This works superbly and I have been using it for about 6 months now.

You can also use this if you don't want to do the yahoo pipes thing. This works perfectly too.
