Here is an easy manual/tutorial on how to lock and hide your hard-drives for whatever reason u may have.
Follow these steps below:

1.open Registry (go to run command, type "regedit" and press enter)

2.then go to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

3.now click the right click button and create DWORD Value (blue color)

4.Rename it as "NoViewOnDrive" (for locking drive)or
Rename it as "NoDrives" (for Hiding drive)

5.double click it and put some numbers to lock ur desired Drive and click ok

6.Here are the Drive No's. matched with drive letters
A: 1
C: 4
D: 8
E: 16
F: 32
G: 64
H: 128

7.finally restart or log-off the computer for this to take effect.

Keep in mind that "0" is the Default Value to Disable or remove this setting.

thats it,your farm pr0n is now safe from those nosy visiting nephews :P

Hmm, why not just hide folders, or even just use true crypt

Don't see the point in that, but ok.

Hmmm, I used TrueCrypt for two weeks just fine, got hit by a virus and was no longer able to access the non-system drive using my password (after cleaning up the system). 120gb of files gone bye bye.

Okay, so I lock or hide the drive ... now when I want to access it I have to go in and restore the registry setting to its previous state. Do I got that right?

Don't see the point in that, but ok.

It hides the entire drive. That is the point....though there are better alternatives in my opinion. :P

you can alternatively go to compmgt.msc and remove a drive letter to the desired drive.
And once you want it to show up go there again and assign it again.

True Crypt for the win. Just remember to always back up your volume-headers in case of problemos.

Thanks for the advice Disme, TrueCrypt is the better solution for hiding sensitive info imo.

Absolutely nothing, no danger at all of data loss.

can't see a reason to do it

Privacy, feature lock-down if it's a public terminal and you don't want customers to be able to access drives.

Or you could stick them into a safe....

what if the system got crashed and re-installation of OS is needed? After that can we be able to see hidden hard drive contents?
