Depends on what your ugrading from, and what your budget is.

My system is currently running with the 9200SE...
Its not the greatest gfx card on the planet, but it beats the hell out of the old Geforce2 MX 200 it replaced.

Yeah. Go for it if you have the cash.. thats why I opted for the 9200SE.. the 9600Pro was too expensive for my budget.

sometimes i tell myself,is it worth it and do i need this?

and often times I fell into this buying frenzy and ended up buying stuff that i dont need or wont use at all.

so think before you buy, that's my advice

get the 9800, it gets 60 fps in hl2, the 9600 is also good, gets 50 fps...

the fxs get like 10fps :-)

I disagree - the difference between 9800 and 9600 is £150-£200 (£300 in some cases), for a boost of 10fps....hmmm (30fps for non-DX9)

and for the case of 9000 and 9200, you should note they're not DX9 capable

Actually, there is a HUGE difference between 9600 and 9800! The 9800 rocks! I'm getting one in a few weeks!

The 9600 is a real steal right now, you can get damn good FPS on all games, for about 180US, depending on OEM, or perhaps an occasional sale.
