Too many good ones to narrow it down.
The French Connection springs to mind.
Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, Scarface.
A lot of excellent westerns; The Outlaw Jose Wales, Pat Garret and Billy the Kid.
Marathon Man, Straw Dogs.
There are millions of good 70s films. Probably the best decade for good solid cinema imo.

Here is a good one with Burt Reynolds that I saw one time and loved because of that care and the comedy in it. Smokey and the Bandit.

I have seen this movie so many times that I can recite the whole damn movie. Every time that it comes on T.V. I watch it again, I just can't help myself.

Some of my favorites from the 70s are:
Jaws
Star Wars
Alien (I think was '79)
Monty Python and Holy Grail/Life of Brian
Dirty Harry

yes dirty harry and jaws are really good. i try to remember how many he did do has dirty harry. the only ones i can think of are
dirty harry
the enforcer
magnum force
the dead pool
i am sure there is at least another 1 or 2
but going back to jaws, that was a real classic, even the 2nd one almost lived up to it, but jaws 4 was really a waste of time. 3 was kind of okay.
