What's your average number of tracker forum posts?

About 300 I guess, there are some where I only posted in the welcome thread and some with 1000+ posts.

100 to 300.
Depends on the community. If the forums have topics that have the scope for discussions, i am all in for it.
Am not a big fan of forum games (SPAM), perhaps thats the reason my post count hasnt crossed 300 on any tracker i use. :)

I am not really that concerned with the number of posts i make at various forums that i am a member of. For me, it is not about post competition, rather, i see it as an entertaining and educational outlet i can participate in.

I am only a member of 1 tracker so 5132.

but i hate tbdev forums, so if i was a member of anywhere else, i would probably have 20 on each max.

What's your average number of tracker forum posts?

The answer to your question( and taking into consideration both it's essential importance and the fact that once again you didn't deem it necessary to grace us with any answer yourself ) is somewhere between not nearly enough and way too many.

I also only a vague idea of how tall I am (6 footish),how much I weigh (somewhere between 175 and 185 lbs) and how many miles that I can run before I have to stop for a rest ( 16 or so at a 5'45" pace) if that is any use to anyone.

Good point is poor show by the op not to even answer his own question but expect everyone else to do so.

If you knew something about statistics, you'd also know that the questioner never gives his own opinion to the interviewed person.

P.S. I expect absolutely nothing.

Actually I have over 200 posts at PTN, mostly posting in such threads, with me posting the asses. I guess I get a kick from it sometimes, when people give good ratings to ''my girls''

I post only when I feel it's useful - answer some questions etc.
It's kinda stupid to post hundreds of posts in threads like rate "whatever", "what do you eat/listen/watch", imo. :pinch:

That is correct. However, the answers to the question you asked are of an objective and not a subjective nature, meaning the fact that you're afraid of biasing the respondents is based on a false assumption.

I could buy that as an argument if
1. This was a scientific poll
2 . not for the fact that you hadn't just recently ignored a couple of direct questions that I put to you.
3. I was completely retarded ( as opposed to my current state of being only semi)

But to be fair I will answer anyway .Average 50-100 .
I also don't post in spam threads (yes I know it's hard to believe )

Well to this poll, I won't vote but I'll say that I don't use most tracker forums, but the few that I do I would fall under 50-100 or over 500. The ones I use don't have the cliche 0-day/"community tracker" spam threads to waste your time in, and aren't filled with bittards who like to waste their time posting in them. :)

All well and good but you are going to make a statement like that you should at least support with a reason ( although I can guess) and it also doesn't answer the initial question.

I'd have to agree with this, even if it is slightly sarcastic. I fall into the 0-50 range myself. More often than not folks with high post counts rarely post anything of substance or quality. This isn't always the case, especially if a user has been a member for a long time, or just really likes communicating through tracker forums.

I prefer IRC for "community" interaction over forums, it's much more dynamic. Of course forums have their place and use, because you have the retention and search feature, enabling easy answers and help to common problems/questions.

But as cinephilia said, I don't care about spam threads or posting for the sake of posting, after all I have a life to live outside of torrent communities.

Bottom line: quality over quantity.

I feel the same way. IRC allows people to have something even closer to a "face to face" conversation that forums are unable to provide. It's usually a lot more interesting as you're able to get to know the other users better. Most of the trackers I'm on don't have good forums at all, to be quite honest. UG and Waffles are two I've found with good forums that aren't matched on any other site I've encountered.

I agree except forum is more modifiable and editable way of expressing your ideas and therefore posts are usually more thoughtful and more developed. Forum threads also allow long conversations that can be brought up anytime. Just look at this thread, do you think such a chat would be possible on IRC?

I think it depends what kind of discussion one is looking for.

Agreed. Most tracker forums I've seen don't have threads like this though.

I admire IRC because it's like sitting with friends and talking about random stuff that has little significance.

But forums are a better way to judge someone's intellectual side. Anyone can make smalltalk via irc but not everyone can post something without looking like a fool.

Stellar
05-25-2009, 03:49 AM
That's very true. I probably should have clarified in what ways I agreed with Crowley in my previous post. Intellectual discussion rarely, if ever, take place in IRC. It's definitely not the place I would look for one. IRC is just a good way to relax and sort of forget about irl stuff... at least for me. I certainly see the intellectual value of forums, and do post in serious threads from time to time.

n00bz0r

Quality discussions generally take place on forums, as the members take some time to think and post over a certain topic.
IRC is for small talk. As i see, its more of an unwinding medium than anything else.Forums certainly have a charm of their own.
