RIAA drops claim that grandmother stole online music ..
(..) Cohn said Ward's home computer runs on Apple's Macintosh operating system, and Kazaa is available only for computers that run on Microsoft's Windows. (..)

So, if you get a lawsuit from RIAA (and all the other 260 who got a lawsuit)..
just !! get a rusty old MAC.. !!

this shows that RIAA is really stupid:
"KaZaA for Mac Users" http://tinyurl.com/on7b
and http://www.kazaamedia.com/kazaa-mac.htm

And they still dropped their case.
It seems they cannot even handle google :(

There is actually a FastTrack client for the Mac but it is just a simple downloader/leech client. It can't even upload files to other members on the FastTrack network.

You don't have to buy a Macintosh to use that argument! Just install Linux, FreeBSD, QNX or BeOS onto a second hard drive and when the ISP, RIAA, or whoever comes, quickly swap out and hide your primary Windows hard drive. Then tell them you were running a small proxy server, that is why they might have detected "illegal activity" with your IP address. If you want, you can also tell them that you don't keep a log file of the proxy connections or delete it every 24 hours.

If the RIAA comes after you, just bury your computer and go live in the South Pole. :D

Works every time! :P

yeah ok, that was stupid :P

This topic wasn't ment to be totally serious, just wanted to show that the RIAA is inconsistent and will loose about every case from AnyOne who can come up with something a bit smarter than my proposal.
Which , well would be EveryOne :(

ok, it's moved from Tips to Filesharing -> Filesharers vs. Copyright holders..

So .. what do kinda trick You have mind if the riaa storms in ?

We already saw:
1- claim you only have a MAC
although:
There is actually a FastTrack client for the Mac but it is just a simple downloader/leech client. It can't even upload files to other members on the FastTrack network. (seems to work for the 65 year old :)

2-
install Linux, FreeBSD, QNX or BeOS onto a second hard drive and when the ISP, RIAA, or whoever comes, quickly swap out and hide your primary Windows hard drive (good one)

3- >>

Work really hard at school/college, become a politician, then become prime minister/president, then ban the RIAA and make P2P networks, free, legal and compulsory.

Hhhmmm,,, theres an idea.
