If you get no picture at all, have you checked if you have sound?, On some laptop's the screen/Mobo connection gets bad.

Can you reach bios? What happens if you try and use a start disk?

What I meant was do you hear the startup sound after a while when you turn it on? but still get no picture?

If you do hear sounds, that means that your laptop can't initiate the screen, If you have neither sound nor picture, and can't see any form of startup screen, it means that it might be a power failure for instance.

So I ask again, can you reach bios, or see anything? do you get a blank screen when windows should start, or directly when you turn it on (I assume that's what you mean though)?

Does it seem like the HD is working at least?

If it doesn't it might be that the battery is too bad, in which case you need to connect the laptop to a power outlet.

If that doesn't do it and if it's not the screen, it might be your mobo, that's more trouble than I could handle even if I had the thing in my hands.

If it is the screen mobo/connection, you'll need to have it fixed by someone who knows what they are doing as I assume it isn't something you have done before, or could do on your lonesome?

Did you ask me any specific questions in that other thread? Like how do you use those cables?

Listen man I'm not about to pUt my energy into typing the whole solution for you if I don't even feel that you are even there to participate. I had no idea if you had even seen those pictures I had posted for you.

i cant go into to much detail as i do not have the time and to explain to someone that does not understand would take ages but basically you can buy cables to go between serial ports paralel ports or usb to transfer files (you would have to use dos or linux) you can make the serial ones yourself outa old mouse cables paralel ones outa old printer cables you just have to find a wirering diagram .... usb one has to be bought has circuitry in it due to voltages and such
so the easiest way would be to connect your 2 comps via a cable transfer the files off the cd to your laptop harddrive then install from your laptop harddrive try here for some dos network info (http://www.wown1.com/j_helmig/dosclien.htm)

Ok, I see that you are not responding again. Let me ask you a question then.

Did you try a startup diskette to get to the DOS prompt? What is on the harddisk of the laptop presently?
