View Full Version : Best Scene MP3 tracker?

What's the best scene MP3 tracker nowadays? I heard STMusic, VIPMusic, and this new tracker SceneSound is good. So which would you guys recommend. I'm specifically looking for older scene releases like Flight of the Conchords - The Distant Future EP-RTB. I don't mean like really old scene releases, I mean scene releases till at least 2007. Thanks in advance.

The Archive on STMusic is practically unexistant. If you're interested in old scene releases VIPMusic is quite good (invite only), and SceneSound seems promising, unless you are from one of the countries that have been banned from the site, in that case you won't be able to register an account.

Filemp3 and STmusic are very much overrated. Both are practically dead. SCC has only new stuff. Scenesound is new, so there's not much in there. Best option for now is certainly VIPmusic with around 20'000 torrents, fast pre times on new stuff, archive growing, free on mvid and mdvdr.

Sorry ashford (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/../members/ashford-165484) mate, Im not a member of VIPmusic tracker so I don't know if its better than filemp3 or not and to be honest I dont really care, but I think you were rush when you said taht filemp3 is dead. Wit cca 1.900 well seeded music albums(on the 1st page the best seeded torrent has 50 seeders) they only bring in the new stuff and don't have an archive section, decent pretimes also. Works brilliant wit what.cd :)

Filemp3 is great for new releases, but you won't find old ones there cos those are removed fast.
And Scc (general tracker) is very good for new ones and there are lots -plus music torrents are freeleech-, there are some old releases (2008 and 2009), but just a few ones. The prob is that getting invites is almost impossible

VIPMusic is a good option and has an Archive (2.580 torrents), although they are not sortable by genre.

SceneSound has more stuff, tho (2.784 torrents on Archive) and they are sortable by genre. And lots of torrents are being added every day since the site is quite new.

So I'd say that SceneSound is the best option for you.

There are still some torrents from over half year on vip which don't know why aren't in archive section yet. Not to mention older stuff. Overall with almost 20k torrent vipmusic is the winner and will be for a long, long time. Not to mention collections (some even have 200+ releases), which you won't find on other music sites, best pre times and many more. Just find an invite and see for yourself.

Scenesound has the potential to become a worthy successor to Softmp3, and hence be the best scene mp3 tracker of them all. If they only would get rid of that nonsense "global ban"...

VIPMusic, from my limited experience there, looks pretty good also. But hardly anyone is leeching anything it seems, and hence seeding should be rather difficult. Maybe they should implement a bonus system to encourage (long term) seeding and leeching, like a recent poll there suggested.

Thanks God, Thailand is not in the banned country list. But I can't sign up as it has reached the user limit and I heard there's no invites. So I guess I'll have to wait up on SceneSound. I'm really interested in that but I guess STMusic and VIPMusic which I got from two very generous guys here in FST will do me for now.

The problem with VIPmusic and the techno and house sections is that the total downloads are maximum 4 ... 5. How i am supposed to maintain a good ratio? :)

Very common picture - downloaded 3 times, seeders : 4 :)

Actually both new and archive sections are sortable by genre, you just have to enter the corresponding url manually. (ie add &new=1 or &arch=1 to the end of the url)

How i am supposed to maintain a good ratio?

Have you tried using your freebies? Hopefully as more members become active it will be easier to seed. There's alot of zombies considering softmp3 is gone and hardly anything is being uploaded at stmusic (when the site is up)

Try Filemp3, I have found there some new scene releases that had not been posted elsewhere (the old Softmp3, Scc, VIPM, STM, FtN, what and waffles included)

Filemp3 is a very good source for new scene releases, only. It does not have a great amount of torrents, but the reason is that releases older that one week or so are deleted by system.

number of torrents:

rock 1247
punk 463
metal 967

techno 2079
electronic 1249
house 5315

total 21617

there's more house, techno and electronic than rock, punk and metal, which is probably because more of it pres, so i wouldn't say it's biased either way. only major thing missing is livesets, which few trackers tend to up unfortunately.

globalsets is generally non-scene but its really nice for sets, everyday they add fresh sets

I also wanna try a scene music tracker. My music folder seems like a trash because users on Waffles and What name their dirs and songs in very different ways (sometimes no or false ID tags), "Artist - Album", "Artist/Album/", "[Year] Album", "Album", etc... so wmp always rename them or change their ID tags, and i cant seed them anymore. At least scene has rules to maintain some quality in this case, scene releases work fine with wmp.

In 99% cases scene means quality and such releases you'll find on ViPMusic (a.k.a. VIP) now with over 21,000 torrents with collections which consist of even 100 and more releases. Great community, awesome speeds and pre times.

well nothing is wrong with waffles and what. i bet i'll get flamed for this, but.. the scene is a standard, so if you use other file sharing methods, dc, ftp, etc you can share scene releases. user rips can only be used the site they are downloaded from and if you see a user sharing random mp3s you have no idea what the quality will be like. personally i find it interesting how a single version of an album can be spread so far around the world and be downloaded so many times. luckily my ears aren't good enough to hear the difference between v2 and v0, let alone flac. plus it's a habit. but of course if i can't find a scene release of an album i want, i'll use waffles.

scene comes with standart quality and correct tagging, also if there are more sceners or scene uploaders in a music tracker that means more 0-day share..as I said before Ive seen lots of 0-day releses on filemp3 which waffles does not include or share a while later...

scene teams, sceners, scene uploaders or what you call are really dedicated and loyal to music scene, they follow always new releases and get earlier albums than a random person, you know sometimes you download albums before its offically released...or movies..

also its good when you share your music at somewhere else

The scene is life to some. If it's not scene its not worth it.

The scene usually release stuff before p2p groups do, and there are consequences if the release isn't done properly (which is where the childish behavior starts).
