Seeing as we are nearing Christmas, we can expect to be flooded by a million and one Best Of... Compilations. What bands do you think deserve them, and inevitably, which bands do you think will get one this year? And are they really worth anything to the collector who has all the songs already?

which bands deserve them?
none.

"Best of" collections are generally gimmicks brought forth by record companies to sell yet another cd of the same
old stuff to people who are desperate (or stupid) enough to buy it.

man must be just changing the track order again

yes they were great greatest hits before p2p becaseu I used to have to buy a greatest hits album for all the good songs also if you liked on song you would have to buy the whole dam album for it now it doesnt matter much with p2p

If old bands do more best of albums, i think it should be something along the lines of

"the best of the unheard"

which takes songs never put onto album, every band has dozens of them recorded, that just await mastering. now that would be an amazing buy for some good bands.

I agree with that ezyryder, if they did that it would be great...
but usually what happens is 18 old songs and 2 unreleased ones, so you have to spend $15 for the two
songs you haven't heard.

The least they could do is ask you "Would you like some Vaseline with your purchase?" when you bring it to the counter.
