I was wondering how long the CD/DVD as a storage medium will last. Do you burn your warez to CD/DVD?

Yeah I do, but I have found that a few years later all I've got are shiny coasters....

Which kind of sucks :emo:

i do. but not much lately as i am kinda poor and the DVDS are not so cheap as i wish :( and i was fired from my job, and i am now unemployed last 3 months. money is more important to eat and survive then to spend on media.

You can put hot drinks on them, to stop them from marking your coffee table.

Aren't you better off buying food with your money instead of eating it

I've determined (for myself, at any rate) that things change so fast I only ever use the shiny things for music/movie/general media storage...HDDs are so cheap I've just gotten used to syncing to flipping-huge off-board drives.

On-line storage just seems weird, atm - like putting it back where you found it, only you can find it quicker?

I burn DVD-R movies, but nothing else.

No, I stopped burning it. I just use it then delete.

9/10 I live my warez digital. The only exceptions are for 360 games. I can't play them unless there's physical media present.

I suppose backing up is considered redundant. I'm a bit old fashioned. I have a few terabytes of disc space, and half a terabyte of interweb space, but I trust physical media and I don't trust hard drives and servers - completely.

I remember when disk space was valuable; today it's common.

No it takes too long to burn it and keep it organized.
So I just keep the best on the hd and delete the rest.

Phoaties are kept on CD/DVD and two external hard drives.

Everything else is burned to DVD and may or may not be on 1, or possibly 2 external hard drives.

In general good quality DVDs will last at least 10 years. I think most coasters are not coasters at all, just people who have changed their optical dive which can't read the disc.

Anything you really want to keep needs to go onto something solid state and not optical or physical.

I'd say I burn 20-30 % of it. Mostly movies, jst in case I want to watch them a few years from now. Other than that I 3> my portable HDD.
