His post are Canadian. According to the exchange rate they're worth less than the American dollar.

If my calculations are right...he has roughly...43 1/4 post

*Tbh, Ross has done a decent job running this board, and he's just a wee little one. At his age I was wasting time in the Army. I learned how to kill stuff, and walk really far, mostly.

*That's the first time I've used "to be honest". I don't like it.
It's crap.

True story.

More useful than learning what's crap, which is soooooo subjective.

Dead is dead, pretty much.

I meant, it is useful to be able to end suffering. It is often the cats bring in a mouse or a bird that is pretty much dead and I wish I would have the stomach to just kill the poor things instead of letting them suffer idly.

It is certainly a feasibility. I am on Hols last two weeks of August but otherwise mostly free.

Edit: although I may not be as reckless as last Friday.

Ah well, we can potentially do the 15th then. It's just after RF's 56th birthday

It seems them rights don't really do all that much for teh ladies with the childs.
It seems turning down a a flexible hours request for part time work on the grounds of it not fitting business requirements is perfectly valid. Even if the person who did the job before me only worked part time.
It also seems it is perfectly ok to announce redundancies and then request said lady with teh child to work hours she can't possibly adhere to due to nursery opening times. It seems getting rid of an extra person that way to cut cost is acceptable
It seems bastard companies get away with fucking murder.

Old trick - it is actually "constructive dismissal" and against the law. I'm guessing you don't have a Union there.

Changing your hours knowing you have child care commitments is not acceptable.

Skweeky
07-21-2009, 10:08 PM
They're not changing my hours, they are wanting me to do the exact same as before and stick to a shift pattern between 8Am and 5.30 PM. Problem is; nursery hours are between 8 and 6 and I live a 45 minute drive away.

I know about constructive dismissal but what I've read about it, it seems rather difficult to prove. On top of that, I am already in the last 3 months of my mat leave so I don't get paid anymore, so unless JP is going to offer me his epic lawyering skills, I don't know how to afford taking the thing to a tribunal.

It can be difficult to prove. One has to start communicating in writing and taking note of dates and things people say. The moment things start getting noted most businesses start being very careful.

If it is a matter of starting and finishing times to allow collecting of the wean they should negotiate. It isn't forever and neither is the economic downturn in business.

Hah. Serves you right for being female.

On another note that doesn't sound like something that should be allowed. I know it wouldn't be here. I know this because I've had to read through the whole binder (:dabs:) at work which contains such matters, looking for ways to cover all bases wrt our software.

And why aren't you in the union anyways?

I'm pretty sure it's as Les said, it's basically constructive dismissal and it's not allowed. Threaten to take them to court and they will cack their pants.

Pop into the citizen advice bureau and have a chat about the wording. They should have a copy of the latest version on a woman's return to work after childbirth.
