I password encrypted an Open Office document and apparently I am typing in the wrong password. Is there anyway to retrieve the document without the password?

You might want to do something about that trojan horse and keylogger program that got sneakily installed at the same time :pinch:

Which reminds me; what free antivirus software do we use these days?

I'd go with those two, or possibly comodo (http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/antivirus.php).

I run Avira on one laptop, avast (+ the comodo firewall) on my stationary machine, and the whole comodo package on two other laptops.

Avast seems the heaviest on resources, while Avira has annoying popups on updates. Comodo can be a bit tricky to get into (mainly the firewall), but it's got a few options I like, and the firewall + antivirus combination is pretty smooth if you're looking for something quick and easy. (Using both fw and av from the same vendor might not be optimal, though.) But their defense+ component I generally turn off.

This is cool (http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/clamwin_portable) as a second opinion type scanner you can bring with you on a usb stick.

Avast is pretty good - although it does have a slightly scary voice that unexpectedly says "Avast has been updated" Scared the Bejaysus out of me the first time.
